Organon Research and Development (ORD) is establishing a role of Director R&D- Local and Regional Business Development Excellence to provide oversight and coordinate and enable ORD functional support for local and regional business development activities and to support establishment of an enterprise-wide Centre of Excellence (CoE)for these activities.

THIS ROLE MAY BE 100% REMOTELY BASED.

About the role:

The Director ORD Local & Regional Business Development Excellence will spearhead efforts to facilitate ORD oversight and coordination of functional support for local and regional business development activities. The role will support OGN’s aspirations to create a CoE at the enterprise level and represent ORD in ensuring industry best practice for these activities. This is a unique opportunity to contribute towards facilitating the ability of individual markets across the globe to identify and execute inorganic growth opportunities.

You will partner across the enterprise with Commercial and Manufacturing CoE Leads as well as with Regional and Market leadership teams, Business Development leaders, cross-functional leaders, and external stakeholders. The establishment of this capability with ORD supports one of our key Better@Organon initiatives to simplify and empower local markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Expert/Point-of-contact across ORD for local and regional business development deals.

  • Support ORD subject matter experts (SMEs) and local market teams in assessing deal opportunities.

  • Guide and support the teams through assessment stages and deal approvals to implementation

  • Lead and coordinate a network of SMEs to ensure timely and efficient ORD input into deals both at planning & execution stages.

  • Train, upskill and support market teams in ORD relevant aspects of local deals, enabling faster and more efficient decision-making and encouraging an appropriate risk and compliance posture.

  • Ensure robust ORD input into contractual documentation.

  • Support the development, management and tracking of ORD deal documentation and records

  • Act as liaison between markets and region/global for ensuring compliance to strategic guidelines and acting as a point of escalation for market teams for ORD relevant areas and activities.

  • Be the voice of ORD in the Cross-functional coordination and collaboration across the local and regional BD landscape involving market teams, regional functions including Corporate BD, R&D, Manufacturing & Supply Chain, Legal, Market Access, Finance and others

  • Keep the ORD leadership updated of local and regional deals and their resourcing and compliance implications.

  • Foster a continuous learning and improvement approach and ensure the right balance between entrepreneurship, local empowerment and compliance to regulatory and other requirements to prevent exposure of the enterprise to undue risks.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have an entrepreneurial mindset and thorough strategic thinking skills, along with ability to drive efficient communication and coordination of activities in a complex operating matrixed environment. You are authentic, empathetic, curious, and courageous and take a robust but pragmatic approach in areas relating to adherence to local/global requirements and fostering corporate compliance.

Required Experience And Skills:

  • Several years of experience in an R&D functional role (e.g. Regulatory Affairs, PV/Safety, Medical Affairs etc.) with prior exposure to pursuing business development, strategic partnerships and alliance management

  • Prior experience with pharmaceutical due diligence process and/or BD

  • Strong understanding of business within the pharmaceutical / life science space, preferably with local and above market experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in a scientific or applied discipline strongly preferred. Additional business qualification is an added advantage

  • Project management experience; ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills; able to establish good working relationships with employees at all levels, resolve conflict and provide feedback, and to devise and implement creative solutions to problems

  • Ability to manage through complexity and ambiguity along with competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated leadership and ethics; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for delivery.

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written; demonstrated ability to speak up appropriately and to raise issues to teams and senior management

  • Attention to detail and a proven track record to be able to think critically, strategically, independently

  • A high level of motivation, drive, and demonstration of Organon leadership values.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity and knowledge of cultural differences with experience in multi-country, multi-cultural environments and demonstrated success with cross-geographically based cultural collaborations.
