Process Development Specialist/Tool & Die I

A Tool and Die Maker I is an individual who has mastered and acquired skills and tools necessary to assist in the development of, & fabricate, the tooling needs that are pertinent to the growth and future of Stryker.

This includes, but is not limited to,fixturing ,tools, and molds.

Excellent work habits, patience, confidence, and teamwork are required of this person in order to produce the highest quality of product possible. This person must be a self starter and able to work with little guidance from the supervisor and traditional support groups such Ops. Egineering, Quality, etc .The T&D Maker must communicate well, aid in problem solving, continue to improve in quality and production.

What you will do:

  • Evaluate & translate engineering prints
  • Proficient in operating all manual and CNC equipment within the department.
  • Plan, set up, & program machining procedures required to produce development components. This would include both online (at the machine console) or offline (CAD/CAM) programming.
  • Ability to consistently machine parts with precise dimensions including tolerances of .0005
  • Must be able to envision the finished level development products and the processes required to manufacture the components from start to finish.
  • Support of projects related to subtractive and additive manufacturing processes
  • Actively participate in DRM and DfX (DfM, DfA, DfI, etc)
  • Ability to perform work without the use of setup sheets or Ops Engineering support
  • Knowledge of speeds & feeds, tool geometry, & tooling selection in relation to the materials used.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and recommendations concerning projects on a professional level with various Engineering groups, peers. & management
  • This person will have access to a substantial amount of information on existing, new, and proposed Stryker products. Confidential & proprietary information should be disclosed to others on a “need to know” basis only.

  • Ability / experience in working in QMS (GMP, GDP) environment
  • Cooperative Attitude - Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
  • Initiative - Job requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Good Communication Skills- written, verbal, and active listening
  • High school or GED equivalent required
  • 3-5 years tooling/fixture (or comparable) experience
  • Microsoft office experience/training
  • GD&T, Gauges, calipers, micrometer, comparator, and CMM experience/training
  • Vocational school training required
  • NIMS certifications preferred
