PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

As Industrial Development Project Manager you are responsible for leading a portfolio of cross functional projects, initiatives and opportunities with both internal and external stakeholders that facilitate and deliver quality revenue growth for CP. You derive the strategic approach to executing these projects to ensure the most efficient execution. You will work closely with customers to develop mutually efficient rail infrastructure that supports their business needs as well as efficient and fluid CP rail operations. The Industrial Development Project Manager is the key integrator/facilitator within CP to ensure corporate functions are undertaking appropriate due diligence to assess project feasibility.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Understanding of the overall commodity market within the applicable area of responsibility as well as a corresponding understanding of CP’s infrastructure and service potential as it relates to the applicable marketplace;
  • Proactively plan project deliverables towards achieving optimal project delivery;
  • Analyze project risks, seeking out strategic recommendations to prepare and communicate risk mitigation plans;
  • Develop and report project status pertaining to cost, schedule, scope and risks;
  • Coordinate and liaise with internal stakeholders to drive timelines and deliverables related to each project and communicate transparent, accurate and timely status updates;
  • Work directly with the customer to assist in progressing their projects from design to completion;
  • Identify opportunities to utilize CP owned land and track to accommodate shipping/receiving of rail cars;
  • Lead the development and execution of Construction, Private Siding and Track and Land License Agreements;
  • Lead and support CP risk, environmental and safety related policies.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a transportation, Civil Engineering, project management and/or operations environment;
  • Strong negotiation and project management skills, particularly when leading cross functional teams;
  • Understand of project controls reporting, including software such as MS Project and Excel;
  • Ability to prioritize and independently manage workload;
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to creatively solve problems;
  • Familiarity with drafting and reviewing legal agreements would also be considered as a strong asset;
  • Knowledge of CP business considered an asset;
  • 20% travel.

Management Conductor Program:
