Come put your software engineering skills into action! Leidos has an opening for a talented Software Development Lead to come work in our state-of-the-art facility in Morgantown, WV. The responsibilities for this position include all aspects of leading the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and automated testing within an Agile and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery model. As a leader, you will architect, design, build, and enhance highly available and scalable systems used by customers worldwide. You will direct major deliverables of projects through all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding, and unit testing. Additionally, you will determine and recommend the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines, and other resource constraints.

Responsibilities Include:

• Manage a team of software developers in the full software development lifecycle, working within broadly defined parameters.

• Responsible for working closely with the Chief Engineer and Solutions Architect in developing solutions to complex requirements.

• Ensure multiple scrum teams adhere to Agile processes and DevSecOps best practices.

• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders about project status and key decision points.

• Manage the resolution of roadblocks for the development team, working collaboratively with the Product Owner, technical leadership, and other engineers.

• Creatively plan and estimate new development tasks and improve performance metrics.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 8 or more years of software engineering experience or a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6 or more years of software engineering experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

• Hands-on expertise with Java, C/C++, and object-oriented programming.

• Experience developing and delivering modern software, including microservices, containers, and server less architectures.

• Strong proficiency developing applications for stream processing, real-time data pipelines, and data integration using Confluent and Apache Kafka.

• Experience analyzing, designing, developing, and implementing RESTful services and APIs.

• Experience building and deploying OCI compliant containerized applications.

• Experience delivering an entire piece of a system or application.

• Experience serving as a technical lead.

• Working knowledge of Agile Development and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) methodologies and tools.

• Experience with a version control system (e.g., Git).

• Knowledge of Agile Development tools such as Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:

• Experience with Scala, Go, and Python.

• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices.

• Knowledge of continuous integration, delivery, and testing tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, JMeter.

• Familiarity with Universal Command and Control (C2) Interface messages (UCI).

• Experience working with Air Force/Department of Defense (DoD) customers.

• Experience working in a multi-level classification environment.

• Active DoD security clearance.

Clearance Required:

• Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
