What Will You Do?

The Instructor of Leadership & Professional Development is responsible for facilitating enterprise leadership & professional development offerings for the associates and leaders of Ashley Furniture Company. Leadership and Professional Development offerings will encompass general professional development offerings (where the focus is on helping associates develop new skills or abilities) to leadership development (where the focus is on helping leaders develop the competencies needed to lead teams and execute organizational strategies). This role will be required to partner with business leadership to identify technical learning requirements and communicate resource needs to senior management.

Additional responsibilities include partnering with third-party companies to deliver integrated curriculum, supporting rotational development programs, conducting learning needs analysis, and maintaining training facilities and equipment. This role will also track learning outcomes to measure learning effectiveness and impacts to Ashley's overall goals and objectives.

  • Facilitate Leadership & Professional Development offerings for associates and leaders throughout the Ashley Furniture organization.
  • Maintain leadership & professional development curriculum in partnership with Leadership & Professional Development leadership, Program Managers, and learning experience designers assigned to the various programs / offerings.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction of assigned courses using a variety of teaching methods to facilitate the learning of employees. Depending on program/discipline, courses may be taught in a classroom, lab, point of process coaching, and/or online and may include different shifts.
  • Assess training success/effectiveness. Create and administer evaluations (written, verbal, competency demonstration and hands-on application). Compile the information in a manner that includes making recommendations for improvements in delivery, material, or format.
  • Support site-level training programs (e.g., Train-the-Trainer, Operator Certification, etc.) and conduct periodic skill audits to sustain program objectives.
  • Responsible for classroom management including maintaining attendance, competency assessment and learning metrics.
  • Maintain professional/technical knowledge and skills including currency in assigned discipline, required occupational certification/licensing, and instructional technology/delivery methods to supports Ashley's overall goals and objectives.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as monitoring costs, scheduling classes, setting up systems and equipment and coordinating enrollment.

What Do You Need?

  • Associates Degree in Organizational Leadership, Business Leadership, or related field or equivalent work experience, required
  • 5+ years of experience in leadership or professional development programs, required
  • Adult Education Certificate or equivalent, preferred
