Junior Digital Designer - USDC Solution Associate

As a Junior Digital Designer, you'll be working with experienced, multi-disciplinary web and mobile application delivery teams where you'll be able to use your creative skills and knowledge of design to create beautiful, user-friendly experiences for our clients. Our creative design practice follows an apprenticeship model, allowing you to explore digital application design across User Experience (UX), User Interface Design (UI), and Visual Design (VD) disciplines, learning from those who have mastered their crafts.

User Experience Design

You are the voice of the people. In all your interactions with clients, project managers, designers, engineers, and more, you'll advocate for what users want, need, and expect from the products we create. You're innovative, quick-thinking, and eager to learn more about what's happening in the interactive space. You have a knack for making the complex clear.

Role You'll Play:

  • Work with our core consulting teams to understand their business requirements in the broader context of their digital strategy and advocate for the customer by developing intuitive interactions and easy-to-use interfaces
  • Work closely with project managers, other designers, engineering, and quality assurance
  • Bring User-Centered Design (UCD) process methods to digital solutions from concept to launch
  • Identify and execute on the best methods for user research and testing within client constraints
  • Work within agile methodology
  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, mockups and prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces

User Interface/Visual Design

You are a visual designer who relishes in methodically applied color palettes and takes pride in your use of standardized fonts, font sizes, font emphasis, and text decoration on pages. When your work is done, the mobile applications and responsive websites you create not only look amazing, but act as a seamless extension of your client's brand voice and business strategy. You're a strong partner who collaborates well with cross-disciplinary teams, seeks feedback, and takes creative direction with grace and maturity. Whether time is on your side or the deadline is tight, you bring a keen eye and an insightful mind to the digital drawing board, making the smart, industry-advancing design decisions for which Deloitte Digital is known.

Role You'll Play:
  • Act as contributing designer on projects, you will create designs that are on brand for our clients and follow a project's creative vision and business strategy while putting the user first
  • Provide a keen eye for ensuring color palettes, typography, accessibility, and consistency are incorporated into your designs
  • Work with tools like Figma and Sketch to document style guides and create design systems that flesh out the visual and interaction details
  • Collaborate with developers, engagement managers, and UX designers to deliver high-quality creative design for both internal and client-facing projects
  • Work on projects of varying length and complexity
  • Contribute to improvements in our creative process and capabilities

Required Qualifications - What you bring:
  • Grow with Google UX Certification
  • 1+ years of professional work experience
  • A design portfolio that demonstrates your personal style and proficiency in storytelling, design thinking, and creating mobile and/or responsive web designs
  • Familiarity of user experience design principles and techniques
  • Understanding of UX research concepts like user sessions and client workshops
  • Understanding of UX design including information architecture, user and screen flows, conceptual and detailed wireframing and prototyping
  • Understanding of UI/Visual design including branding, style, color, typography, and ability to develop high fidelity mocks and prototypes of solutions
  • Familiarity with one or more of the leading digital focused design applications like Figma, Sketch, InVision, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Ability to take feedback and use it to improve your work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A clear passion and enthusiasm for learning and pursuing your expertise, constantly challenging the definition of what makes good User Experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 20 percent (While 20% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Preferred Qualifications - Bonus Points if you have:
  • Proficiency in producing "pixel perfect" design files
  • Familiarity with conversational UI and augmented/virtual/mixed reality design
  • Ability to use motion tools like Adobe After Effects, Principle for Mac, and Framer to communicate interaction design and motion
  • Understanding of iOS and Android mobile app design including Material Design and Apple's Human Interface Design guidelines
  • Familiarity with web and mobile application accessibility standards such as 508 and WCAG
  • Curiosity for emerging technology and design trends, tools, and methods
