Commercial Renewal Underwriter

Scope

The Commercial Insurance Division is seeking to fill a Renewal Underwriter position in the Chicago Branch. The primary focus of the position will be underwriting and profitably growing Package, Property, General Liability, Auto, Worker’s Compensation, Umbrella/Excess and niche Financial Institution products/coverages for our Financial Institutions customer base.

Main Responsibilities

The Cored Production Underwriter will:

• Underwrite and negotiate renewals and endorsements with a total Financial Institutions book premium of $3M-$5M; approx. 250 policy count
• Achieve favorable rate and retention within given territory
• Grow book through account rounding and cross selling
• Occasional travel with production staff within the Midwest Region to share and deepen agency relationships.
• Collaborate with assigned underwriter associate, local Financial Institutions team leader, the respective Commercial Insurance Manager, and home office to position their assigned book and territory within Commercial Insurance to meet or exceed business goals of profit, growth, retention, and rate.
• Adhere to authority and underwriting strategies and service standards.

Travel: 5% of the time
