We have an immediate full time opening providing System Assessment Support for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center, Naval Station Norfolk, VA.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as System of Systems Interoperability and Mission Area Assessment (SOSIMAA) test director in support of the Code 275 Branch Manager
  • Develop and maintain SOSIMAA test plan for each unit scheduled in accordance with NAVSEA 05U and TYCOM instruction
  • SOSIMAA scheduling to include but not limited to: SOSIMAA scheduling input to ISIC and TYCOM
  • Coordinate testing dates
  • Inform supporting activities a minimum of two weeks prior (when possible) to the scheduled start date and keep those activities informed of any schedule changes
  • Coordinate meetings between SOSIMAA Test Director (TD), testing activities, LMA/NSA, Ship's Force, SIIMO AIT OSIC and other supporting activities as needed
  • Reserve conference rooms, office space, computer access and classified material storage spaces as required
  • Provide test reports for SOSIMAA
  • Conduct testing in support of SOSIMAA
  • Coordinate, organize, and schedule manpower and access for SOSIMAA Team members working onboard to ensure all required shipyard training and access requirements are met for SOSIMAA team
  • Verify power, hydraulics, and cooling water, as required for testing, is available without scheduled or recurring interruptions, and applicable areas are free of construction interference
  • Verify system turnovers are complete so Ship's Force can operate system/components as required Operational Control (OPCON) for testing and training, or coordinate shipyard support to operate systems and support equipment as needed for testing
  • Obtain TYCOM permission to deviate from approved test plan; This includes adding additional test requirements, removing existing test requirements or changing the testing schedule
  • Evaluate test results and categorize deficiencies; Provide status of major deficiencies to TYCOM, ISIC, and LMA until deficiencies are corrected
  • Review previous certification reports and discrepancy lists for class problems
  • Conduct arrival and departure briefings; Generate SOSIMAA report within twenty-four (24) hours of SOSIMAA completion and provide to affected organizations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in technical field and at least 5 years of job-related experience; OR Vocational/Technical school/Associates degree and at least 8 years of job-related experience, OR equivalent
  • 3 years of full time experience in Submarine Forward Electronic Systems Acquisition and Life-cycle Support, and at least 3 years of general experience in Navy Program Acquisition and Life-cycle Support to include the following:
    • Navy System Requirements, Standards, and Procedures
    • Navy Program Management
    • Navy Configuration Management & Data Management
  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Active secret clearance

  • Prior Submarine Service experience
