Job Summary

Amentum is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Bluegrass Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant project located in Richmond, Kentucky.

Typical Responsibilities include:

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees
  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations
  • May be required to work overtime or varying hours to include shift work
  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record
  • Work in close proximity to and or in a chemical demilitarization facility
  • Responsible for providing complex administrative support to EDT management
  • Work independently on projects requiring research and preparation of briefing charts and presentation materials
  • Read publications, regulations, and directives and take action or refer those that are important to EDT management and staff as appropriate
  • Prepare special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other offices, etc. under general direction
  • Screen telephone calls, visitors, and incoming correspondence; personally respond to requests for information concerning office procedures; determine which request should be handled by the supervisor, appropriate staff member or other offices, and prepare routine not-technical correspondence
  • Schedule tentative appointments without prior clearance. Make arrangements for conferences and meetings and assemble established background materials as directed. May attend meetings record and report on the proceedings
  • Review outgoing materials and correspondence for internal consistency and conformance with EDT procedures; assure that proper clearances have been obtained when needed
  • Collect information from the files or staff for routine inquires on office programs or periodic reports, and refer non-routine requests to the responsible individual(s)
  • Secure and safeguard surety material
  • Perform and maintain the munitions accountability records
  • Maintain and update spreadsheets to produce certificate of destruction, record munitions, reject data and provide various munitions data reports
  • Perform other collateral duties as assigned for the operations of the EDT and BGCAPP main plant projects

This position is designated as an unescorted access position and is subject to the requirements of the Unescorted Access Program (UAP). As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by the Blue Grass Army Depot Commander.

BGCAPP is subject to Army Regulations (AR50-6 Chemical Surety Program and AR190-59 Unescorted Access Program) with govern persons performing work under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) and unescorted Access Program (UAP). Eligibility to be placed in a CPRP or UAP position requires US citizenship. Employees must favorably complete a series of screenings to include but not limited to: a National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) security investigation, drug/alcohol testing and medical examination.

All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. Respiratory screening and the ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required for this position. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the Blue Grass Army Depot is required.

Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years’ advanced secretarial, clerical, and administrative experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) site access
  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment
  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any depot or BGCAPP drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement
  • Must have thorough and extensive knowledge of office practices and procedures
  • Proficiency in preparation of slide presentations using PowerPoint or comparable software applications
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential nature of Explosive Destruction Technology (EDT) management
  • Must be able to have above average communication skills, ability to work effectively with both employees and managers
  • Ability to convey a positive and professional image
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong organizational skills with ability to coordinate and prioritize projects, adapting to change as they occur
  • Must be able to solve complex problems and understand the impact of decisions upon the operation of the facility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a business or related field
  • Experience in providing administrative support for executive-level management
  • High proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software packages
