Job Summary

Reports to a Training Supervisor and is responsible for execution activities for WTCC Site Safety and Construction training development and maintenance. Assists in implementation and delivery of training.

Performs work in accordance with applicable project procedures in accordance with policies and all applicable laws, regulations, Contract, Authorization Basis, and technical requirements. The individual will support Requirement Area Mangers and functional subject matter experts to develop training which implements applicable requirements and management expectations documented in policies, procedures, and guides.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training effectiveness relative to implementing project requirements and safety regulations.
  • Support the creation and implementation of documents and training materials. Products/training materials produced may include needs analyses, task lists, design documents, classroom materials, computer-based training, on-the-job training and evaluation materials, and the creation of written, oral, and performance-based evaluation items.
  • Support line functional personnel on the implementation of the projects standards on training and implementing documents.
  • Interface with requirements organization and individual requirements area owners to assist in the establishment of tailored implementing processes and training
  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment
  • Administer facility training and procedures process activities including:
    • Revising and maintaining Training material in various databases.
    • Revising training and procedures - review and incorporate revisions due to program changes, procedure changes, design changes, lessons learned, operating experience
  • Assist in the delivery of training materials as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

Amentum has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) to construct, start-up and commission the world’s largest radioactive-waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in southeastern Washington state. The project will use vitrification technology to process and stabilize 53 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste currently stored at the Hanford Site which is a byproduct of plutonium-production during World War II and the Cold War era.

The project is the largest undertaking of its kind ever and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects equivalent to building two nuclear power plants. Its construction site spans 65 acres and includes facilities for pretreatment, low-activity waste vitrification, and high-level waste vitrification, as well as an analytical laboratory.


Minimum Requirements

Education/Experience:

Minimum Requirements per DOE O 426.2

  1. High School (HS) Diploma

AND

  1. Must have knowledge and/or expertise consistent with the technical material to be presented.

AND

  1. 4 years training development and implementation/instructional experience in construction or general industry or have the ability to successfully demonstrate knowledge of instructional techniques through basic instructor training.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to engage, motivate, and empower students to appreciate the value of safety training and its importance in the workplace.
  • The ability to assist in developing safety programs and training curriculum.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills. Able to communicate and work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and facilitate classroom teams.
  • Strong self-starter
  • Familiarity with the nuclear industry, process-oriented business environments, and highly regulated training environments
  • Familiarity working in a government contracting environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; PowerPoint, Word, Outlook used routinely
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision
  • Team and customer focused with a demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and perspectives
  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 regulations.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
