What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for the monitoring, testing, preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC infrastructure equipment and associated electrical, alarming and monitoring systems, to ensure they remain in a fully operational condition, utilizing your knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout, per specifications and operational procedures in Verizon Network Facility locations. You will perform maintenance and repair of the physical facilities structures, security and peripheral systems. You will handle the emergency power backup systems and physical facility remedies at all technical facilities. As the first responder during natural disasters or any facilities threat to the network’s integrity, your role will be essential in ensuring best in class customer experience.

  • Providing all maintenance, inspection and repair of all heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and related energy management systems as required by Verizon Practices and/or Federal, State and local regulations and ordinances.
  • Performing and/or managing vendor repairs on all HVAC, Generators, Switchgear, UPS, Fire Suppression, Security, DC Power plants and AC electrical systems. This includes roofs, plumbing, electrical and building maintenance.
  • Maintaining task logs and equipment inventories for completed work and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintaining equipment used to support our disaster relief efforts such as backup generators and HVAC, both portable and stationary.
  • Maintaining building management systems.
  • Maintaining, diagnosing, testing, overhauling, and repairing a variety of refrigeration, dehumidification, AC, ventilation, and heating systems.
  • Reviewing and interpreting work order forms, operating instructions, electrical diagrams, building plans and mechanical equipment plans and specifications.
  • Physical requirements of the job may include climbing stairs.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

What we’re looking for...

You’re tech-savvy and well-versed in all things telecommunications. Working independently suits you well. You’re also thorough, vigilant, and on top of the details - someone people count on to solve problems and to make sure they don’t happen in the first place.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • A valid Universal Refrigerant Certificate.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Vocational or Technical school training in ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance.
  • Three or more years of experience in ventilating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of advanced principles of air conditioning and refrigeration.
  • Experience in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
  • Experience in reading schematics and work plans.
  • Ability to explain complex HVAC issues to other team members and managers.
  • DOT certificate.
