As part of this team, you will play a critical role in our network transformation through building a unified network across all lines of business and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of our customers connected.

You will be responsible for the monitoring, testing, preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC infrastructure equipment and associated electrical, alarming and monitoring systems, to ensure they remain in a fully operational condition, utilizing your knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout, per specifications and operational procedures in Verizon Network Facility locations. You will perform maintenance and repair of the physical facilities structures, security and peripheral systems. You will handle the emergency power backup systems and physical facility remedies at all technical facilities. As the first responder during natural disasters or any facilities threat to the network’s integrity, your role will be essential in ensuring best in class customer experience.

  • Providing all maintenance, inspection and repair of all heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and related energy management systems as required by Verizon Practices and/or Federal, State and local regulations and ordinances.
  • Maintaining proper HVAC equipment operation during seasonal changes and recalibrating controls based on seasonal conditions to ensure energy efficient operation.
  • Performing major repairs of mechanical plant equipment.
  • Maintaining task logs and equipment inventories for completed work and preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnosing, repairing, and performing corrective measures to include mechanical, plumbing and electrical functions.
  • Maintaining, diagnosing, testing, overhauling, and repairing a variety of refrigeration, dehumidification, AC, ventilation, and heating systems.
  • Training other Building Engineers in basic HVAC preventative maintenance.
  • Reviewing and interpreting work order forms, operating instructions, electrical diagrams, building plans and mechanical equipment plans and specifications.

Physical requirements of the job may include, but are not limited to: climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated areas, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to approximately 65 pounds, pushing, pulling, grasping, twisting/bending, and crawling, squatting, or kneeling in small spaces.

You’re tech-savvy and well-versed in all things telecommunications. Working independently suits you well. You’re also thorough, vigilant, and on top of the details—someone people count on to solve problems and to make sure they don’t happen in the first place.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
  • Willingness to work on-call, rotating schedule (shifts) including nights, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business.

Even better if you have one or more or the following:

  • A degree.
  • Mechanical Journeyman status.
  • Four or more years of commercial HVAC / mechanical troubleshooting experience.
  • Licenses to work with refrigerants, service knowledge.
  • Experience and ability to perform routine and preventative maintenance for multiple facilities in the areas of AC/DC power, UPSs, Fire Suppression, Lighting, HVAC, Generators, Chillers.
  • Liebert/York/factory training experience.
  • Experience in water systems including, chillers, pumps, cooling towers and associated control valves, piping and operating controls.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of DC Plants.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedual as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
