Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly advanced Facility Process Maintenance Technician V to join our Clayton NC BCP Assembly Facility. Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30pm; hours may vary based on business demand.

This Facility Process Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing at the subject matter expert level in mechanical troubleshooting and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the production equipment and Facility systems in a Manufacturing/Assembly environment. You are self-motivated with strong organizational/time management skills to maintain a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, yet demonstrate flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer. You will use strong leadership skills, such as motivation, delegation, ownership, leading by example, well-developed organizational skills, excellent communication skills, etc. Provide instruction, mentor and train less skilled technicians as needed. Promote and adhere to the Amentum Safety Structure by identifying and correcting any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot industrial production equipment and systems such as Automated Guidance Vehicles (AGV), Crane and Hoist, machine tools, pumps, gearboxes, and other equipment as required.
  • Perform all aspects of preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on all production related industrial systems including, but not limited to: AGV machinery, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors and fluid fill systems.
  • Effectively communicates with the site management team and the customer to understand requirements, solve complex electrical problems, and provide solutions to manufacturing problems.
  • Performs General Maintenance of equipment as required.
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs CNC Machines with PLC’s, AGV machinery, electrical systems, pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; conveyor systems; overhead cranes; and other systems client introduces to the site. Maintain facility systems site-wide, including electrical systems, lighting, waste systems and general facility maintenance as required.
  • Reads and understands electrical/electronic schematics.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and perform required preventative maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, alignments, etc.
  • Performs plumbing and hydraulic hose repairs.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs basic electrical issues, including facility electrical systems.
  • Utilizes strong mechanical and electrical skills in order to complete assignments.
  • Creates and modifies site operations procedures for equipment and recommends facilities reliability improvements.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on process/production equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Recommends activities to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations. Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tag out procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Three years of experience as a mechanical/electrical Technician in an industrial production/assembly facility environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work from aerial life and scissor lift at heights up to 30 feet or higher.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.
  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
  • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
  • Able to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
  • Able to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Able to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Able to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
  • Able to stand continuously for 4 hours at a time
  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
  • Ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.

Special Requirements:

  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Electrical, or related program.
  • Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley, and Siemens, controllers.
  • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical systems such as conveyors, filtration systems, and fluid fill systems to OEM specifications.
  • Experience with alignments and machine geometry using precision calibration tools if required.
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing and working safely with 480v 3 phase electrical components.
  • Experience utilizing measurement tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, various type gauges, and calibers to set tolerances to OEM Specifications.
  • NFPA-70E Training.
  • Supervisory capabilities.
