What you will do-
As a Sr. Staff Advanced Manufacturing Service Engineer, you will work with Marketing, R&D, Advanced Sourcing, Advanced Quality, Connected Care Team, Advanced Operations, and Operations on new product development. You will serve as the champion for service needs in the new product development process and empower designing for serviceability within the development process. You will also be responsible for the design and optimization of service lines needed to repair the devices through LEAN methodologies to meet customer expectations and then transitioning products into service globally. You will also ensure standard service launch kits are developed and meet all regulatory requirements.

You will also:

  • Monitor and control progress of projects to ensure sound application of engineering principles are used and design intent is being followed and achieved
  • Coordinate with other Stryker units, vendors, and senior leadership as needed to ensure specific cost, time and/or regulatory standards are met
  • Train others on product development related topics, as well as training service technicians on optimized repair processes
  • Evaluate the results of projects throughout testing and provide servicing guidance
  • Evaluate cycle times, line setup, and equipment requirements to ensure repair process meets customer and technician expectations
  • Partner with R&D on all new products to ensure service launch kits are defined and implemented during the launch of products to induce, but not limited to:
    • Serviceability reviews
    • Partnership with appropriate groups to define fixture and equipment requirements globally
    • Development of global low-cost custom test equipment with simplistic troubleshooting
    • Prepare and define service procedures, including disassembly, assembly, and testing
    • Ensure Preventative Maintenance is clearly defined and feasible to accomplish
    • Ensure service launch kits are available upon launch of the product
    • Define and document field diagnostic equipment and processes
    • Ensure spare parts are defined and ready in conjunction with AO
    • Ensure requirements are given to both mechanical and electrical fixture teams
    • Analyze, determine, and advocate for service model that best meets the needs of our customers and business
    • Conduct or direct all required service validation activities, including validation plans and equipment installation/qualification
    • Create service-specific PFMEAs and implement poka-yoke mechanisms where possible
    • Partnering with appropriate engineering disciplines such as Product Engineering, RA, QA, AO, Operations Engineering, Advanced Sourcing, Service Operations, and International teams to gather inputs and develop the Service process

What You Need-

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required
  • 6+ years of related engineering experience required
  • Demonstrated mechanical/electrical design and problem-solving skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools (e.g., pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammer, etc.), power tools and test/inspection equipment required
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma principals and/or other continuous improvement tools required
  • Must be able to manage time, projects, stress, and conflict
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication
  • Must be able to bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision
  • Experience with objective ergonomic assessing tools like Humantech MMH calculator -preferred
