Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Senior Stress Analysis Engineer to join our team! This position can be based at our Beltsville, MD, Charleston, SC, or Jackson, MI facility.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you’ll do:

Design, analyze, and optimize aircraft conveyance systems, Engine solutions and electrification with computer-aided engineering techniques (CAE) for Aerospace products. Communicate and coordinate with the global engineering team to define analysis projects and to review analysis results. Perform system and component level analysis and trade studies, often requiring the development of new techniques. Develop new methodologies and technical approaches as necessary to suit a given project based on customer inputs. Experienced in material selection for aircraft applications. Familiarity with international air regulations and qualification process desired. This position is expected to ensure designs meet the customer’s expectations and any applicable industry standards. Work with product design teams to produce efficient product models for component analysis. Experience performing structural, vibration, and fluid dynamics analyses using ANSYS, ABAQUS, or other suitable analysis tools. Candidate must be adept at developing boundary conditions to ensure proper physics are captured. A firm understanding of material science and solid mechanics is a must. Mentor and coach junior engineers.

What you’ll do:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze and optimize aircraft electrical, conveyance, ducting and sealing system designs with established numerical techniques such as finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or through the development of novel analysis techniques.
  • Prepare presentations and represent Eaton at customer meetings as a technical CAE expert for the design. Highlight issues and manage customer requirements when necessary.
  • Work closely with design engineers throughout a project to understand design constraints as well as provide feedback pertaining to structural and/or product performance needs.
  • Review project-related documentation and analysis results to ensure its completeness and quality.
  • Contribute to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard material, and difficult coordination issues.
  • Communicate and coordinate projects with offsite team/consultants. Develop analysis work packages to be completed offsite.
  • Utilize and provide technical direction to global engineering resources in North America, EMEA and at EIEC- Pune, India.
  • Document and prepare a formal report for linear and non-linear structural and fatigue analyses on systems, components, and assemblies for aerospace products.
  • Create test plans to support analysis and monitor testing of product.
  • Ability to coach and mentor product design engineers with fundamental finite element analysis and/or computational fluid dynamics tools and techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering and (2+) years’ experience in an Aerospace environment, OR a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and (5+) years’ experience in an Aerospace environment.
  • Based on government requirements for the program this role will be supporting, applicants must be a US Citizen for consideration (no dual citizenship).
  • No Relocation. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Jackson, MI, Charleston, SC or Beltsville, MD will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of clamp/flange/ducting design, assembly equipment, and material science desired.
  • Working knowledge of ANSYS, ABAQUS, CAEPipe, CFDesign, FESafe and CATIA V5 desired.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project desired.
  • Working knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE) is desired.
  • DFSS Greenbelt certified preferred.
