Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking an Operational Technologies / Digital Factory Engineer. This role with take place out of our facility in El Paso, TX.

The Operational Technologies / Digital Factory Engineer will develop, lead and plan Manufacturing Engineering initiatives which will result in significant advancements in productivity, product cost, quality and/or the maintenance of the plant facilities equipment and its production process. They will perform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique design applications.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage Industry 4.0 projects including automation, Digital core, IIoT, additive manufacturing, systems integration, and manage project objectivities and timelines.
  • Develop approaches to solving problems in processes, tooling, equipment, facilities, and cost utilizing Industry 4.0 methodologies.
  • Guide & support plant teams on machine connectivity & data acquisition activities
  • Execute the development, submission & approval of business cases for Industry 4.0 project opportunities
  • Train key plant personnel on the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies being deployed to ensure successful adoption and achieve improvement objectives
  • Develop knowledge & expertise in the Industry 4.0 tools & technologies to be a subject matter expert (SME) for the site teams
  • Establish and maintain project expense and capital expenditures with pre-established budgets and timelines.
  • Assist in the development of the technical, engineering and support talent.
  • Provide technical expertise or support related to automation and manufacturing processes
  • Work as liaison to divisional Digital Factory Engineer and Manufacturing leaders

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, or Technical Science from an accredited institution to be completed by August 2024.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience showing proficiency in programming robotics or other automation in support of manufacturing process
  • Experience with machine connectivity, communication protocols & data management.
  • Experience with IT infrastructure & system integration.
  • Operational knowledge of electronic systems, electric cabinets or wiring of hardware (motors, PLC’s, sensors,...).
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of El Paso, TX will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Desirable 5 years of experience in one of those manufacturing engineering (Manufacturing Engineering, IT network).
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing I4.0 solutions in the manufacturing industry (ie. Additive Mfg., real time OEE, Digital Work Instructions, Predictive Maintenance, Digital Traceability, Machine Learning AI, Simulation, Collaborative Robots, Autonomous Mobile Robots, Augmented Reality).
  • Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black Belt).
  • Lean, EHS subject matter expert/category champion.
  • Robotics, Automation and Controls Experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems and expert MS Office skills.
  • Project Management experience with "Microsoft Project".
  • Ability to communicate complex technical terms to non-professionals working in the plant (management, department leaders,..).

Skills:

  • Knowledge of electronic systems.
  • Experience in controls engineering, programming, additive manufacturing, big data & analytics.
  • Understanding of machine connectivity, communication protocols & data management.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure & system integration.
  • Proficient with computer and software tools – including advanced Excel capabilities (pivots, macros, etc.).
  • Ability to select and install PLC hardware and software.
  • Ability to read & use wiring, connection, schematic, and ladder logic diagrams to troubleshoot control systems.
  • Ability to setup industrial network devices (switches/routers) and connect these into the existing IT infrastructure.
  • Knowledge/Experience with setup of Kepware OPC system.
  • Knowledge or experience with electric safety devices (switches, fuses, breakers).
  • Ability to communicate complex technical terms to non-professionals working in the plant (management, department leaders).
