Fire Protection Cognizant System Engineer
Job Summary
Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of Amentum, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Fire Protection Cognizant System Engineer to join our Engineering team located in Carlsbad, NM.
The successful candidate will provide the day to day support of Fire Protection Systems to operations and maintenance. Process engineering change notices for modifications to their assigned system(s). Perform system health reports, evaluate spare parts inventory and other life cycle management activities for their assigned system(s). Fire protection systems that may be assigned are fire water distribution system, water based fire suppression system, vehicle fire suppression system, special hazard fire suppression system or fire alarm system. The candidate will support the general plant projects and capital projects for their assigned system(s). Based on experience and education the candidate may also be assigned fire protection engineer responsibilities.
NWP Exempt Salary Grade (28-34)
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- Due to the nature of the work, all candidates must be US Citizens.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred.
- NICET Certification(s) in Fire Protection is desired.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License is ideal.
- Previous WIPP experience is a plus.
