What you’ll be doing...

The Engineering Analytics Team has an immediate opening for a talented and experienced Business Intelligence professional. They will be joining a team that plays a highly visible and critical role in driving strategic direction and sound decisions for the Global Network and Technology organization’s largest programs.

Your work encompasses program reporting, advanced visualization, and advanced data analytics with the goal of enabling data-driven insights and conveying them in a decisive call to action. This demands a rigorous attention to detail, high standards of quality, an ability to see hidden linkages across many different processes, and the ability to correctly demonstrate financial and operational impacts of all options. You will also tailor the messaging of these insights to all stakeholders to drive desired outcomes for the business. You will work alongside a team of data scientists, reporting analysts, advanced modelers, and domain-knowledge experts in building a digital culture – one that uses advanced mathematical techniques and tools to wield the data and create value in as-yet unimagined ways. You must have an insatiable curiosity and interest in understanding the Telecom business model with a desire to evolve into a data artist that can spearhead decision science.

You must have a proven track record of driving business decisions by providing actionable insights based on data. You also must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams with the ability to frame problems out of ambiguity and unstructured information.

  • Lead engagements with key business stakeholders in business strategies and opportunities with a focus on driving measurable value via innovative technical solutions to business problems.
  • Take control of sophisticated models that support the largest Engineering initiatives. Improve existing models and prepare them for next generation use cases and analyses.
  • Maintain uniformity and consistency in the toolkit and user experience that has been built by the Engineering Analytics team.
  • Perform cross-disciplinary analysis and visualization of traditional, spatial and network data to help solve complex business problems.
  • Leverage strong experience using a variety of data mining methods, data tools, using, reporting tools and ETL.
  • Work with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams, slice through ambiguity and unstructured information, and ultimately crystallize “the goal.”

What we’re looking for...

A talented, experienced professional with hands-on experience using large datasets to find opportunities for optimization and using models to test different courses of action. You have a strong interest in understanding how Verizon’s network works, how it ties into Verizon’s business model, and a passion for data in general. You have extremely acute attention to detail paired with insatiable curiosity. You have high emotional intelligence required to lead a team of diverse talent and perspectives, as well as win consensus across large working teams.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field or financial; field. (Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Data Science).
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in leading data science projects/team and delivering from end to end.
  • Experience in working with databases, reporting tools and ETL software.
  • Experience in coding (Python, R, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Tableau, SQL.
  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Math, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Data Science
  • Certifications in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Lean Six Sigma or Project management
  • Financial acumen –understanding P&L, Cash Flow, Capital Expenditures concepts.
  • Demonstrated complete understanding and wide application of technical procedures, principles, theories and concepts in the Telecommunications field.
  • Expertise in Tableau, both from analysis and visualization / design.
  • Expertise in PowerPoint.
  • Ability to adapt to quickly changing business environment and requests that come in related to upper level executive requests.
