What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Corporate Information Security CIS) organization enables the business by protecting assets and information across all of Verizon’s networks, infrastructure, and applications. CIS integrates cybersecurity governance, policy, technology, and operations and works to incorporate security into the design of technology systems and services.

The Enterprise Security Architecture team creates and manages security architectures across Verizon. We work with technology and business stakeholders to generate security architectures, designs, and control objectives that support their business goals and protect Verizon systems and data.

You will lead a team of experienced enterprise security architects to create business-informed security architectures and designs. You will help to define, document, and promote security architecture and standards throughout the company. A successful candidate will be able to:

  • Manage multiple architecture engagements for complex and highly-visible projects to meet requirements and timelines
  • Elicit, interpret, and develop stakeholder requirements, place them in the context of existing security architecture, and create designs to support stakeholder business goals
  • Advocate for the use of architectural standards and practices to influence stakeholders, technical teams, and security peers
  • Lead by example and raise the bar on team skills and design quality

Where you'll be working…

This is a work-from-home role performed almost exclusively from your home office with occasional in-person meetings and training.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or six or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience, specifically in enterprise architecture or security architecture
  • Five or more years of experience managing technical or security professionals
  • Experience in successfully leading teams virtually/remotely
  • Experience in communicating complex security concepts, both verbally and in writing, to a variety of audiences
  • Experience building security reference architectures for complexsystems based on industry frameworks/lifecycles and with traceable alignment to business goals and requirements

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience using security and architecture frameworks (SABSA, TOGAF, DODAF, NATO AF, Zachman), architecture standards (ISO 42010, 42020), and modeling tools (Archi, Archimate, Visio, Sparx EA) to create and manage designs
  • Knowledge of attacker techniques, including exploitation of common flaws and vulnerabilities, and the use of threat modeling to address them
  • Experience in several security disciplines including endpoint controls, cloud computing, containerization, encryption, IAM, and data protection in complex environments
  • Experience in using security architectures to meet industry standards such as PCI, ISO 27001, and NIST 800-53.
