Eaton’s Aerospace Division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Jackson, MI facility.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $65250.0 - $95700.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

Position Overview:

Functionally responsible to support the High Performance Work team including production support, tooling, gauging, equipment, process controls and validation, and product quality. Manufacturing Engineer will work with cross functional team to solve manufacturing problems through root cause identification, implementing corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities. Responsible for maintenance and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes including tube bending, welding, brazing, heat treat, and other metal fabrication. This role is a Split Shift overlapping first and second shifts.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve safety and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes using Eaton and other industry standard practices
  • Designs processes to ensure that components and assemblies meet all internal and external customer quality specifications (Eaton Quality System, AS9100, and NADCAP).
  • Active member of a High Performance Work Team (HPWT)/Focus Factory troubleshooting machine, tooling, and process problems, supporting non-conforming material processes, and implementing lean six sigma concepts.
  • Maintain and improve product flow through the plant through reduced Defective Material Report (DMR) and Process stop occurrences. Resolve issue quickly when production stops occur.
  • Use problem solving tools to drive identify root cause and implement corrective actions through process controls, poke-yokes, equipment, and product design for manufacturability.
  • Create and maintain standard work instructions, process routers, tooling drawings, equipment PMs and process documents.
  • Troubleshoot, recommend, and implement changes in products and processes to improve manufacturability and profitability (cost out). Work directly with production associates and cross functional teams in the implementation of projects.
  • Support manufacturing change orders for engineering and process driven improvements.
  • Design gaging and tooling to aid manufacturing process. Work with suppliers and purchasing to procure tooling and supplies as required.
  • Collect and analyze manufacturing data and metrics to aid in design and improvement of processes or products including scrap and defective material report (DMR) system.
  • Provide functional and technical support to the HPWT within the assigned area of focus as well as the organization as required to support goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • Minimum of one (1 ) Year experience (including internship or co-op) in engineering or manufacturing
  • Experience in solid modeling and drafting (i.e. CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, ProE, etc.)
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of 50 miles of Jackson, MI will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in mechanical, industrial, or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience with industry standard problem solving tools.
  • Previous lean and/or six sigma certification.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, tube bend, welding/brazing, NDT, heat treat, chemical processes.
  • Experience with Industry Standard Requirements (AS9100, ISO9001, etc.).
