Eaton’s Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Waukesha WI (Badger Drive) facility.

Primary Function:

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for leading quality and continuous improvement activities in support of the Eaton Quality System (EQMS) and the Eaton Business System (EBS). The Senior Quality Engineer will act in a lead role within the Regulators department, guiding all quality aspects and partnering with the regulators operations team to improve quality performance. The position is responsible for providing support and leadership for supplier, process, and customer quality.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support production manufacturing with problem-solving, process improvements and resolution to manufacturability issues.
  • Drive actions with statistical analysis and process capability (Cpk, Ppk) where necessary to improve performance or product quality.
  • Develop strategic plans based on statistical data and results to improve scrap performance.
  • Work in partnership with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to support all development projects and milestones to achieve zero-defect quality and launch readiness.
  • Manage customer complaints (internal & external) related to the Badger Dr facility including tracking, monitoring, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in problem solving analysis to address scrap, customer, or production-related issues.
  • Support the ISO 9001 quality system and support implementation and management of the site quality system and procedures (EQMS)
  • Manage and create process control documents such as PFMEAs, control plans and other quality tools to ensure compliance.
  • Work with suppliers to initiate and close corrective actions and to ensure that root causes have been properly identified and eliminated.
  • Review supplier PPAP submissions including control plans and assist with control plan creation where necessary. Ensure all appropriate special characteristics are included, that reaction plans are adequate and customer approval is obtained where necessary.
  • Work with Design Engineering and Supply Chain to ensure that quality criteria are clearly identified on all newly established parts and quality requirements are communicated to suppliers.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in manufacturing environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without out company sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Waukesha will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Assembly processes including coil assembly, stacking, tanking, final assembly or controls experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field from accredited institution.
  • Six Sigma certification and/or training
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis using Minitab and Excel
  • Working knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure compliance to defined quality requirements
  • Willingness to ‘Think outside the box’ and can work well individually or in a Team environment
  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure a continuity of supply of compliant material

Position Criteria:

  • Analytical and Statistical Tools - The knowledge of a wide range of problem-solving tools & methods, including statistics, combined with the ability to select & apply them to make data-based decisions to sustain higher levels of process or product quality. Lead complex problem-solving projects and demonstrate the ability to apply all the commonly used statistical tools, such as MSA, SPC, DOEs, etc., across organizational boundaries and functions.
  • Inspection and Testing - The ability to use proven tools, techniques, and methodologies to inspect products, measure process performance, perform product verification and validation testing, and to provide feedback reporting as required.
  • Product/Process Quality Planning – Must have the ability to strategically define the Critical to Quality elements of a product/process, and the knowledge to effectively analyze, assess, and mitigate the risks associated with any potential failures.
  • Quality Leadership – Must have a knowledge of quality management systems and support practices. This competency includes the ability to assess performance, set strategy aligned with the business and use metrics to drive continuous improvements efficiently and effectively.
