Eaton’s Electrical Sector and Critical Systems Life Safety team is hiring a Quality Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Long Branch, NJ facility.

Position Overview:

The primary focus of this role will be providing quality, regulatory and technical skills on production processes. The role will require significant interaction with operations team, shopfloor employees and suppliers alike to get a resolution on their issues in a timely manner using problem solving technics and monitoring internal/external audit inputs.

In this function you will:

  • Monitor and report customer/plant/supplier quality and provide rapid response for any quality issues.
  • Work together with Quality Inspectors to assure that incoming inspections, return material management and product/process audits are being followed as required
  • Communication and monitoring of plant/supplier problem solving in accordance with Eaton Supplier Excellence Manual and Product Regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate containment activities and CAPAs related to Customer/Plant/Supplier and internal/external audits as applicable
  • To be a part of OpA (Operational Assessment), QFR and Quality Self-assessment studies
  • Inspect/Analyze customer returns, report/communicate inspection results with related departments, prepare problem solving report together with cross functional team and assure implementation and verification of corrective/preventive actions effectiveness.
  • Facilitate and lead 8D process improvement using a variety of Quality and CI (Continuous improvement) tools
  • Actively supporting quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives and presentations
  • Monitoring/tracking and reporting all Quality KPIs and quality daily/monthly reports. Participate Tier-2 and Tier-3 meeting.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving taking fill accountability for closure of quality issues
  • Knowledge, practice and application of the product/process and quality system standards such as ISO 9001:2015, Industry Specific Regulatory Authorities (UL, FM), Eaton Quality Management System and Customer Specific requirements.
  • Use proven tools, technics, and methodologies to inspect products, measure process performance, create/track change requests to assure that they are implemented, perform product verification and validation testing, and provide feedback report such as PPAP, Temporary Deviation as required.

Technical Knowledge:

  • SAP ERP System
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • ISO 9001:2015, Internal/External Audit, Six Sigma (Green Belt) preferred
  • APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA and SPC

Soft Skills:

  • Team player and have the ability to work with their initiative and an ability to effectively manage relationships with multiple parties.
  • Ability to investigate and drive root cause
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a Zero-defect mindset.
  • Good time management
  • Able to perform efficiently under time pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read technical drawings.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years Quality Engineering experience
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Certification preferred
  • APQP experience
  • Experience in use of basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers etc) preferred
  • SAP ERP System experience

Position Criteria:

  • Exceptional skills in Microsoft office, including Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Team oriented, but able to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma desirable.
