What you’ll be doing

As a Drafter and Engineering Surveyor you will be responsible for producing, updating, and maintaining site facility and infrastructure baseline drawings in concert with engineers in accordance with site policies, procedures, and standards.

You will be required to perform as-built surveying of facility infrastructure, utility, surface, and sub-surface structures and systems for incorporation into the facilities drawings baseline. This position will be responsible for establishing benchmarks, providing field staking, and performing topological surveys for various projects and maintenance requirements.

You will also work with a small but dedicated drafting team to ensure that quality site and project deliverables are produced to support our customer’s critical mission set. You must be able to demonstrate technical flexibility in the course of executing duties in both drafting and field surveying roles, as well as, professional communication characteristics in order to liaise with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and other AutoDesk software in conformance with requirements, applicable codes and design criteria
  • Perform field topological and as-built surveys
  • Create 2D/3D/BIM drawings using external references and survey data while coordinating various disciplines
  • Convert existing 2D drawings to current site CAD and drafting standards
  • Work closely with other designers/engineers to coordinate space configuration changes and engineering discipline designs
  • Produce, update, and maintain design and baseline drawings following established professional practices, codes, standards, and procedures while incorporating redline changes and coordinating revision releases
  • Develop and brief reports, metrics, project status, etc. at various meetings and forums

Minimum Requirements

  • A solid understanding of sound construction practices and basic architectural, civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical design
  • Ability to read and interpret various designs, diagrams, and schematics
  • Ability to conduct field topological and as-built surveys utilizing a range of modern survey equipment
  • Ability to establish benchmarks and provide field staking
  • Translate design solutions to a quantifiable conceptual cost estimate
  • Manage multiple design projects at the same time and at different lifecycle stages
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications
  • Understanding of US codes and standards to include Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs)
  • 5 years’ experience as an AutoCAD drafter/designer within a commercial firm
  • 2 years’ experience as a land or civil surveyor
  • Associate’s degree or technical school training/certification
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or have the ability to obtain a TS clearance and poly to start or must be an Australian citizen and possess or have the ability to obtain a TSPV to start

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Architecture
  • Formal qualifications in surveying and spatial information
  • Project Management certification
