Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Quality Engineering Technician III on 1st shift. This position will be based at our Orchard Park, NY facility.

Eaton Mission Systems specializes in the manufacturing of life saving devices, pneumatic systems, military and space applications.

The Quality Engineering Technician III is responsible to interface with other employees including management, manufacturing operations, and engineering, as well as third party personnel such as Customers, Registrars, and Suppliers (as needed). This position will periodically be called on to help lead multi discipline teams to assist in bringing systemic issues to closure. This individual shall be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, depending on the issues at hand. This support can include support of both Orchard Park and Westminster locations.

The hourly pay range for this position is $26.00- $29.00 per hour.

What you’ll do:

  • Support day to day quality tasks such as generating production quality metrics, documentation of issues, assembling customer data packs, support problem investigations and RCCA
  • Interpret and apply relevant Domestic and International Regulations and Industry Standards (e.g., ISO, AS, AMS, ASTM, etc.) when required as part of tasks.
  • Support regulatory and agency inspections, audits, investigations, and inquiries regarding the control and assessment of product design and manufacturing quality.
  • Review the adequacy and correctness of changes to Procedures, Documents, Component Specification, FMEAs, Control Plans, as applicable.
  • Assist with the timely disposition of non-conforming materials, maintain compliance to necessary regulatory requirements, and ensure adequacy of corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence, as applicable.
  • Participate in CAPA activities, including analysis of data and trends in complaints, supplier quality, nonconforming material, training effectiveness, and root causes analysis.
  • Work with Suppliers, Management, Engineers, and Manufacturing in the resolution of quality problems.

Other Key Requirements:

  • This position requires maintenance of a close working relationship with Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, Program Management, Manufacturing, Production, and other internal disciplines.
  • Frequent personal contact with Customer, Government, Regulatory Agency, and Major Subcontractor Representatives requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, writing skills, tact, aggressiveness, and persuasiveness.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to follow through on assignments with varying levels of supervision.
  • The incumbent, under general supervision, will have latitude for routine decision making and action.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual changes related to quality.
  • Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing, Assembly and Test, Suppliers, Customers, and other Engineering disciplines in the resolution of fabrication, and field related problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings - knowledge of GD&T is a plus.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree OR a High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years experience in manufacturing, quality, inspection, industrial, mechanical role within a manufacturing and/or military environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience interpreting blueprints and working with precision measurement tools.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Orchard Park, NY will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree within a technical discipline or higher
  • Experience in problem solving techniques (5 Why, 8D, FMEA etc.)
  • Experience in APQP/PPAP
  • Experience in first article inspections (AS9102)
  • Experience with aerospace quality management systems
  • Experience with Minitab

Skills:

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to interface with customers and third party vendors’
  • Knowledge of Quality standards
  • Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
