Job Summary

Amentum is seeking an Electrician/Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working in a team environment, and have a strong work ethic.

What we do:
Complete comprehensive energy usage and capacity analysis, engineering reviews, on-demand meter installations, SCADA monitoring, and more. Create, manage, and maintain the client’s electrical infrastructure model of nearly 100,000 elements. Elements include high voltage equipment from the utility connections down to low voltage lighting and receptacle panels. Provide electrical safety calculations (arc-flash and short-circuit), load flow / voltage drop analysis, system coordination, protective device settings, underground thermal analysis, motor starting analysis, and more. Currently managing approximately 50 facilities. Engineering Technician Position is roughly 75% field work (surveys/data collection) and 25% office work (report generation and communication/coordination).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Installs, modifies, repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, temporary and permanent metering devices, and visually surveys new and installed equipment including secondary distribution lines and circuits used to supply distribution panels, switchgear, and power and control circuits.
  • Occasionally requires the installation of temporary metering equipment and/or visual surveys in energized panels.
  • Working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and determines the routing placement, type, size, gauge, balance load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls.
  • Determine and/or record size, type, and gauge of wiring, coupling, conduits, electro-mechanical relays, digital relays, circuit breakers, digital trip units, transformers, etc., supplying details to update the electrical system model and simulation software.
  • Plan and coordinate work of other engineering technicians and related positions.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.
  • Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed.
  • May support engineers in the development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • Position may provide an opportunity to travel. Travel would be in short sprints (roughly 2-3 weeks maximum)

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance and poly
  • Vocational/technical training beyond high school and at least 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent
  • A working knowledge of arc-flash safety and the ability to develop and follow all safety procedures. Must know and apply the principles, materials, and safety standards applicable to the electrical trade.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to utilize basic computer applications
  • Ability to travel.


Preferred Qualifications

  • TS SCI clearance is strongly desired
