PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Individual is responsible for working at a operational level with understanding of SAP, its underlying database, operating system, hardware platform and networking principles to keep the environment reliable for day-to-day rail operations.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Coordinate and manage daily operations by monitoring work load, change requests and incidents;
  • Familiarity with SAP backup and restore tools;
  • Designing and implementing High Availability/DR solutions for SAP applications;
  • Assist with proactive development and maintenance of procedural documents used by BASIS team;
  • Deep understating of SAP BASIS work stream in implementing and/or supporting different SAP components such as SAP S/4 HANA, SAP HANA, SAP Fiori/Gateway, SAP PO, SAP Business Objects, BW on HANA, SAP business Suite on HANA, etc;
  • Broad technical background with knowledge of system sizing and architecture;
  • SAP BASIS administration tasks including but not limited to performing transports, landscape and instance maintenance, system refreshes, support patch upgrades, software release management, problem determination, resolution and incident management;
  • Recognize optimization potential and responsible for tracking of processes;
  • Ability to lead conversations with business, SAP, SAP Partners, developers and architects;
  • Participate in DR rehearsals, annual system and database audits working with internal/external auditors to ensure compliance of systems;
  • Keep SAP systems safe by applying Security notes and able to plan actions from EWA reports.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in SAP Basis support;
  • Able to work independently, strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Thorough understanding of SAP best practices concerning the technical landscape and the practical application into a production IT systems environment;
  • Experience as a technology SME from consulting, architectural or operational background;
  • Competent in troubleshooting and perform RCA for major incidents;
  • Experienced in monitoring, tuning and configuring SAP HANA systems;
  • Skilled in Hana system administration using SAP HANA Cockpit and Hana Studio;
  • Working knowledge of network, storage, server hardware technology, and desktop technology;
  • Able to actively pursue and gain knowledge on future SAP technologies;
  • Architecting and deploying SAP solutions on at least one hyperscaler (AWS, Azure or GCP);
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required;
  • Able and willing to work in rotating on-call schedules including weekends;
  • Individual must be on-site in CP office (Calgary) or any of the supported regions in CP owned property;
  • Compensation will be aligned as per experience.
