Job Summary

Amentum is seeking an Closure Support Specialist for the Bluegrass Chemical Agent Destruction Pilot Plant project located in Richmond, Kentucky.

Typical Responsibilities Include

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations

  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record
  • Work in close proximity to and or in a chemical demilitarization facility
  • Supports the plant management organization by managing ad hoc technical projects and studies.
  • Provides effective technical summaries, briefings and findings to the Plant Management organization.
  • Manages and coordinates tour scheduling and logistics
  • Acts as Amentum / Site liaison for tours and events.
  • Develop and present technical presentations and briefings to various internal and external customers and stakeholders on varying technical topics.
  • Prior knowledge of Decommissioning and equipment removal from one or more previous baseline sites
  • May serve as back up to Manager as needed.
  • Provides support and guidance to various organizations such as LOTO, Plant Engineering, Operations and Operations support as needed.
  • Perform complex technical assignments within approved schedules and budgets under supervision of pertinent supervising personnel.
  • Coordinate technical and administrative activities in area of expertise with those of other disciplines and other departments in company participating in project.
  • Advise management as to the status of assignments with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to assigned individuals.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with managers on unusual or specialized problems in their area of expertise.
  • Assure accuracy and timeliness of oral and written technical reports on assigned discipline activities.
  • Maintain proper files and records.
  • Plan and schedule discipline efforts associated with assignments.
  • Assist in training and evaluation of assigned technical personnel.
  • Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Interface with client to ensure project's performance technical issues are accurately reported.
  • Develop strategy and prepare written correspondence on issues of concern to Senior Management, the client, and/or Corporate.
  • Review engineering changes and provide recommendations to the Plant Management team.
  • Develop various procedures and plans as required to achieve project goals.
  • Research historical demilitarization challenges and opportunities and provide written or verbal summaries to Senior Management, the client, and/or Corporate
  • Identify new risks or risk mitigation opportunities and develop corresponding risk assessments based upon impact to project cost or schedule.
  • Develop plant organization risk response plans, coordinate associated risk-handling actions, manage risk response activities from initiation through completion, and communicate status.
  • Assist plant organization risk management team members by reviewing proposed new risks, assessing risk level and categorization, and performing monthly assessments of risk reports.
  • Provide monthly report on status of plant organization risk response plans and corresponding actions outlined within each plan.
  • Directly interface with the Schedule, Cost, Risk Mitigation team to facilitate the analysis of the risk mitigation opportunities.
  • Develop and apply quality assurance/control principles and methods to the resolution of complex operational issues.
  • Support the Closure leadership team by providing guidance on the implementation and applicability of customer and company quality assurance/control programs and requirements.
  • Provide a commercial quality assurance perspective to the Closure team.
  • Support the development of new systems, proposals, implementation procedures, management and organizational assessments, ad strategies for resolving quality issues within the Plant Management organization.
  • Facilitate communication and track closure of issues associated with customer/government and team audits and assessments.
  • Participate in the development of interdepartmental and inter-company solutions to quality assurance/control issues as BGCAPP.
  • Serve as System Expert on technical teams
  • Developed detailed equipment decontamination and removal plans
  • Work with Engineering, Safety, Environmental and Waste Management personnel to ensure departmental needs are met.

This position is designated as an unescorted access position and is subject to the requirements of the Unescorted Access Program (UAP). As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, urinalysis testing, respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by the Blue Grass Army Depot Commander

Relocation Assistance Provided

BGCAPP is subject to Army Regulations (AR50-6 Chemical Surety Program and AR190-59 Unescorted Access Program) with govern persons performing work under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) and unescorted Access Program (UAP). Eligibility to be placed in a CPRP or UAP position requires US citizenship. Employees must favorably complete a series of screenings to include but not limited to: a National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) security investigation, drug/alcohol testing and medical examination.

All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. Respiratory screening and the ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required for this position. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the Blue Grass Army Depot is required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in occupational safety, engineering, industrial hygiene or related field and 10 years’ technical or operational experience demonstrating prominent and recognized authority in the subject matter in the field of chemical demilitarization technical processes, chemical munitions disposal and related systems safety

Or

  • Associate degree in occupational safety, engineering, industrial hygiene or related field and 14 years’ technical or operational experience demonstrating prominent and recognized authority in the subject matter in the field of chemical demilitarization technical processes, chemical munitions disposal and related systems safety

Or

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 18 years’ technical or operational experience demonstrating prominent and recognized authority in the subject matter in the field of chemical demilitarization technical processes, chemical munitions disposal and related systems safety

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain and maintain Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (BGCAPP) site access
  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment
  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any depot or BGCAPP drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement
  • Possess strong detailed organizational skills with ability to coordinate and prioritize projects, adapting to change as they occur
  • Must possess demonstrated comprehensive understanding of the chemical processes, equipment operation and plant design of modern chemical demilitarization facilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in a Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline.
  • Heavy knowledge of Underground Electrical Utilities at BGCAPP, Industrial Electrical design and/or Electrical Systemization Implementation.
  • Heavy knowledge of BGCAPP Toxic Area Equipment during installation and toxicity levels associated with the equipment.
  • Intricate knowledge of Support Equipment Equipment used at the BGCAPP site.
  • 25 years’ experience in Industrial plant settings to include Maintenance, Operations, Engineering and Systemization.
  • Strong experience in Maximo CMMS database
