Communications Specialist
Position Summary
This role is focused primarily on internal communications, with a strong emphasis on writing and project management, as well as event planning and other activities within a highly dynamic Corporate Communications function. Performs other duties as assigned, including those pertaining to media relations, charitable giving, community relations, and other external communications efforts.
Responsibilities
Internal Communications
- Develops timely, relevant, and high-impact internal communications, which include employee newsletter articles, organizational announcements, intranet posts, presentations, and more.
- Edits and proofreads documents to verify accuracy and effectiveness in conveying key messages, and for grammar, spelling, and typographical errors.
- Coordinates internal communication regarding community relations events, as a key event planner on the team.
- Responsible for creating communication plans (i.e., stakeholders, audience, vehicles, timelines) aligned with the communications/business strategy.
- Partners with business leaders to provide recommendations on internal communications and related initiatives.
- Leverages employee feedback channels, monitors real-time feedback, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to continuously improve communication approaches.
- Serves as communications liaison for social committee groups.
- Researches new, innovative, and Best Practice methods to enhance internal communications.
External Communications/Media Relations
- Writes media communications such as alerts and news releases.
- Partners with Social Media to assist with content creation.
- Partners with internal business leaders to provide recommendations on external communication opportunities in support of business objectives.
- Attends networking and company-sponsored events as a representative for Combined Insurance.
