Scope:

The Claim Director, under minimal direction from AVP - Claims Manager, will investigate and settle complex and high exposure first party Builder’s/Construction Risk claims, within established best practice guidelines and allotted authority.

Responsibilities:

· This role requires an individual to be accountable for the management and handling of a high volume of pending claims including investigation, coverage determination, reserving, negotiation, and settlement strategies.

· The successful candidate’s daily responsibilities will be centered around promptly and appropriately developing each claim file from initial contact through final settlement. Including, but not limited to, the following:

o Directing a detailed and thorough investigation and loss analysis. Engaging and directing the appropriate outside vendors and effectively managing the scope of their assignment and associated expenses.

o Analyzing and addressing coverage issues timely and accurately. Effectively communicating coverage positions to brokers, risk managers, and policyholders. Preparing reservation of rights and denial of coverage letters where appropriate.

o Maintaining well documented and articulated claim file notes including the proper support documentation. Executing claims best practices and ensuring claims regulatory compliance, operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment.

o Establishing accurate and timely loss reserves on each file or making reserve recommendations where needed. Negotiating settlements with policyholders and authorizing and processing payments.

o Providing excellent customer service to a diverse client base which results in increased client satisfaction and retention.

· Additional responsibilities and duties may include:

o Preparing management reports for losses exceeding the reporting threshold.

o Developing and maintaining strong business relationships with internal and external customers and business partners including insureds, agents, underwriters, and TPA’s.

o Travel to attend conferences, trials, mediations, settlement conferences, client meetings, audits, etc., as necessary
