Job Summary

Plans, directs, organizes, and evaluates Aircrew Flight Equipment operations pertaining to equipment accountability, personnel reliability, mobility, and other such activities required to meet operational readiness; associated databases shall be maintained to ensure equipment accountability

  • Establishes performance standards.
  • Improves work methods, and advises on inspection, repair, and repacking of aircrew flight equipment.
  • Ensures serviceability based on required specifications and technical publications.
  • Evaluates problems and determines feasibility of repair or replacement related to inspecting and repairing fabric, rubber equipment, and parachutes.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • Knowledge of equipment related to individual specialty codes.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
  • Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects and is required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
  • The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • A working knowledge of aircraft maintenance safety requirements and the operation of portable fire-fighting equipment are required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Four (4) or more years actual and recent experience in the repair, maintenance, modification and overhaul of equipment related to individual specialty codes. (Navy PR)
  • High school diploma or the equivalent is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of specialized courses is required.
  • The ability to read, write and to comprehend data is required.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
