PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The purpose of this position is to calculate and review pension benefits and answer any inquiries related to pension calculations, pension payments, post-retirement benefits and pension contributions.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Prepare and handle preliminary and final retirement and termination calculations;
  • Process Reinstatement files and Death calculations;
  • Review pension payroll;
  • Maintenance of tracking system;
  • Fine tuning of pension related data on HR data base;
  • Peer review for other Investigative Specialists – Pension;
  • Handle pensioner benefits including:
  • Enrollments/changes in retirees health care plan;
  • Reconciliation of payroll deductions on pension payroll;
  • Post retirement life insurance;
  • Handle plan member and former member specific inquires related to:
  • Plan provisions;
  • Pension benefits;
  • Annual pension statements;
  • PA/PAR issues;
  • Pensioner benefit issues;
  • Employee pension data including contribution shortages and overage;
  • Maintain accurate employee pension data on HR data base including handling output from absence reports, interface reports, deemed earnings and retrieving information from data bases using available retrieval languages such as SAP, Spinifex, ListPro and Fiori (GQL);
  • Completing RRB information forms for retirees and terminated members;
  • Handle arrangements related to incompetent pensioners/survivors;
  • Prepare and process notifications and election forms;
  • Assist in maintaining user manuals and associated forms;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a minimum of Grade 12 education with a minimum of 1 year work experience in a Pension/HR/Payroll administration capacity;
  • Ability to handle private and confidential information with discretion and professionalism;
  • Good mathematical aptitude and ability to analyze data;
  • Superior attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a computer-based environment involving multiple software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SAP, pension administration programs and query tools and should work at an acceptable level to meet the requirements of the position;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
