PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

This position supports the Manager Heritage Services & Operations by providing administrative assistance in drafting, revising, and finalizing paperwork for museum loans of archival items, heritage equipment donations, licensing agreements, and archival information requests. It also provides support to the Heritage Operations team by performing various operational and/or mechanical duties, assisting with maintenance and restoration of heritage equipment, and providing trainmaster coverage for the Holiday Train program, Royal Canadian Pacific charters, Executive inspection trips, and other heritage train movements.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Draft, revise, and finalize agreements for museum loans of archival material & items
  • Draft, revise, and finalize agreements for heritage equipment donations
  • Draft, revise, and finalize agreements for 3rd party licensing of CP trademarks
  • Assist with research and approval of archival access requests from Exporail
  • Assist with maintenance of CP Archives (inventory and cataloguing of items)
  • Assist with monitoring CP Archives inbox and responding to relevant inquiries
  • Assist with planning and execution of Heritage Operations train movements
  • Provide Trainmaster coverage as required for Heritage Operations internal/external train movements, holiday train and other sponsorship related train movement
  • Provide Heritage Coverage in maintenance shop & RCP pavilion
  • Provide administrative support to Heritage Mechanical/Operations and CP Shops

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be fully familiar and proficient with MS Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook, an Power Point) Experience with on-line archival programs such as Argus is an asset
  • Must be comfortable with reviewing and understanding basic legal terms and language
  • Must possess strong administrative skills, including filing, organizing, and drafting documents and other communications
  • Must have a demonstrated proficiency with inventorying, organizing, and cataloguing items and documents
  • Must either be CROR rules qualified, as a Conductor or Locomotive Engineer, or be willing to immediately undergo training and qualification.
  • GCOR qualification would be an asset but is not required
  • Must be an excellent communicator
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of your role, successful candidate must be legally elligible to travel into the United States
  • Ability to work independently is critical
  • Must be able to think clearly under pressure and adapt to changeable, time-sensitive requirements
  • This position requires a great deal of cross-functional work, and the individual must be able to accept and prioritize instructions from various stakeholders.

Management Conductor Program:
