Position Summary:


Key role in aligning the strategic direction for biologics drug discovery in close collaboration with the Thematic Research Centers (TRCs). This position will work in close collaboration with senior leaders across the global Research and Early Development organization to discover and deliver a first-in-class and best-in-class Biotherapeutics pipeline.
Must have a thorough understanding of all the requirements and processes needed to advance programs through discovery and into development from target selection/validation to lead ID to lead optimization, through safety assessment, into clinical development, and ultimately toward registration. A demonstrated track record of leading research groups that have moved molecules into the clinic is essential.

Role and Responsibility:

  • Leads integrated Team engaged in de novo binder discovery and optimization using fundamentally enabling technologies based on both internal and external capabilities and technologies

  • Provides scientific perspective and leadership to discovery efforts. A primary focus and experience in either Oncology, Immuno-oncology and/or Immunology therapeutic areas is preferred.

  • Builds and delivers a sustainable flow of Development Candidates for clinical development consistent with agreed strategies.

  • Represents the company both internally and externally with both the scientific and business communities.

  • Actively seeks product and/or technology alliances with appropriate academic, government, and industry partners.

  • Ability to attract, retain, and develop a world-class biotherapeutics discovery research team and building a culture of innovation that cultivates teamwork and optimizes performance.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in scientific discipline with at least 10 years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience

  • Deep scientific knowledge and technical skills in de novo binder generation, antibody/protein engineering, protein expression, characterization, and analysis. Experience with optimizing the structure and function of Antibody Drug Conjugates is a big plus.

  • Actively maintains current awareness and high scientific profile in areas of expertise

  • Excellent managerial and leadership skills and interest in developing talent

  • Strong interpersonal capabilities and ability to build networks and collaborations internally and externally
