Breakdown Manager

What will you do?

The Breakdown Manager will oversee the Breakdown and Outside Maintenance departments. The Manager will monitor breakdown events and associated costs. As a Breakdown Manager, you will negotiate vendor drop lot costs, monitor issues at drop lots, and negotiate any maintenance contracts for repairs to Ashley Assets. The Breakdown Manager will work with the Maintenance Operations Manager to provide reports and scorecards for the Director of Maintenance.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation of a Maintenance Budget.

Work with the maintenance team to maintain monthly budget goals.

Negotiate drop lot contracts and maintain relationships with the vendors that provide parking or service. Re-negotiate when contracts are due.

Assist legal with information necessary for successful legal reviews of contracts.

Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, and pay adjustments.

Coordinate and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area’s goals.

Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.

Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.

Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.

Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunities.

Negotiate with outside maintenance vendors to reduce costs and increase quality thru auditing of billing, quality audits, and feedback from site visits


What will you need?

Associates Degree, in Transportation, Maintenance, Business or related field, equivalent work experience.

2 years of experience in the Transportation or Maintenance industry and/or equivalent experience.
