Senior Cloud Application Architect

Leidos is a FORTUNE 500 company bringing a mix of innovative technology and sector expertise to customers in the national security, engineering, and the health industries. Leidos is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect for a position as part of a team supporting internal and external Leidos customers.

Leidos is seeking a dynamic, mission-centric Senior Cloud Application Architect to support a large, mission-critical 24/7/365 hybrid multi-tenant, multi-cloud, enterprise infrastructure. The position may be asked to perform on client-site, at a Leidos site, or virtual. The Cloud Application Architect will serve as the lead cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME) for application migration and refactoring. The successful candidate will oversee application architecture, design, and implementation.

The successful candidate should be a collaborative, analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and technical management skills to deliver the best solutions in support of the customers’ missions. The candidate must possess strong communications skills.

Primary Responsibilities

The Cloud Application Architect is responsible for collaborating with others, including Leidos customers, vendors, and team members to develop, review, and validate cloud application architectures and to oversee and support application migration and refactoring efforts including but not limited to:

• Recommendation of architecture alternatives to enhance utilization of cloud native services, reduce cost, reduce development / migration time, etc.

• Recommendation of cloud service providers (CSP) and services to maximize use of cloud native resources, minimize cloud spend, and maximize application performance.

• Identify and adopt of best practices and standards including but not limited to processes, methods, and tooling.

• Lead application migration and refactoring teams through the resolution of complex technical issues.

• Collaborate with internal and external platform and security architects and application developers on strategies to increase cloud adoption and reduce time to cloud.

Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. citizen with a current DoD Secret clearance.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

• Subject matter expertise in at least two cloud platforms with focus on Impact Level (IL) 4/5 and 6 environments—Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

• Expertise with cloud application architectures including but not limited to microservices architecture, cloud native architecture, event-driven serverless architecture, and PaaS and SaaS based architecture.

• Experience in the implementation and execution of DevOps and Agile practices.

• Experience with operating systems including but not limited to linux and Windows, programming languages including but not limited to python, Java, and .NET, and networking concepts.

• Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.

• At least one advanced application focused cloud architect certification.

• Proven track record in leadership positions executing cloud migrations and application refactoring.

• Minimum 10 years of experience as industry leader in cloud application architectures.

• Must meet requirements for DoD 8570 Compliance included holding a current CompTIA Sec+ certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Formalized systems engineering methods including but not limited to performing assessment of alternatives (AoA) alternatives and business case analysis (BCA) applied to architecture alternative assessment.

• Subject matter expertise in more than two cloud platforms with focus on Impact Level (IL) 4/5 and 6 environments—Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

• More than one advanced application focused cloud architect certification.

• Expertise with operating systems, programming languages, and networking concepts.
