The Spatial Solutions Division (SSD), part of the Decision Advantage Solutions Business Area, is currently seeking a Data Scientist for the Maru Program on the Visualizing Enterprise Geoint Analytics (VEGA) team. In this role, you will analyze data coming from VEGA and Joint Analytic Workspace System (JAWS) to support the program with modernization activities, cost reduction activities and innovation. You will provide expertise in the processing, analysis, and exploitation of imagery to extract geospatial intelligence.

Clearance Level Required:

Top Secret with the ability to obtain a SCI, as well as a polygraph

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Acquiring, cleaning, and exploring large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
  • Applying statistical methods to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Developing and implementing machine learning algorithms and models to solve complex business problems.
  • Creating clear visualizations to communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical audience.
  • Building predictive models to forecast future trends or outcomes based on historical data.
  • Identifying business challenges and formulating data-driven solutions to address them.
  • Working with big data technologies and distributed computing platforms to handle large datasets.
  • Documenting processes, methodologies, and findings for reproducibility and knowledge sharing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US citizenship is required per contract.
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or analytical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or Computational Social Science; or Master’s degree or equivalent graduate degree including certificate-based advanced training courses.
  • 4+ years of prior relevant experience in data science, analytics, or quantitative intelligence analysis, and demonstrating progressive technical development and outcomes. 2+ years of prior relevant experience with a Master’s or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Expertise in one or more scripting languages, such as Java or Python.
  • Familiarity with multiple cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and the ability to deploy and scale models in the cloud.
  • Proficiency in working with machine learning libraries.
  • Skills in testing code, debugging, and ensuring the reliability of algorithms and models.
  • Proficiency in writing SQL queries for accessing and manipulating data stored in relational databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience with knowledge graphs and related technology.
  • Significant experience with databases such as PostgresSQL.
  • Familiarity in containerization tools like Docker for packaging and deploying applications.
  • Experience creating dashboards using Grafana, Kibana, or PowerBI.
  • Experience blending analytical methodologies and leveraging existing COTS/GOTS/FOSS tools in an unconventional manner.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
