Job Summary

Amentum has an opening in Easley for a day shift general maintenance technician. This person is responsible for assisting higher level technicians in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on the buildings and facilities equipment, fixtures and systems in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducts planned preventive maintenance inspections and performs required preventative maintenance actions (lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.) as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Inspections, lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and associated technical maintenance tasks.
  • Reviews and submits work order updates to planner scheduler.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
  • Operates a PC with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Two years’ experience in industrial or commercial general maintenance
  • Ability to work in an aerial or scissors lift at heights of 30ft or more
  • Basic electrical and mechanical skills
  • Must be willing to work on call as needed.
  • Work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Physical / Special Requirements

  • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
  • Requires the flexibility to stretch/reach, bend/stoop, squat, kneel, move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
  • Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
  • Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic repair theory.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory,
  • Mechanical skills, sufficient to assist with and perform preventive maintenance and repairs to facility related equipment such as lubrication, cleaning, and filter changes.
  • Experience safely utilizing a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, email, etc.
