Job Summary

The Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Technician repairs and maintains assigned USAF support equipment. Performs routine and extended maintenance on company owned vehicles and AGE units. Maintains files on all work performed. Corrects vehicle discrepancies found during safety inspections prior to operations of units. Monitors bench stock items and requests items as needed in support of department.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Inspects, repairs, and maintains assigned support equipment, using the applicable maintenance instructions and related technical data.
  • Performs corrective maintenance on all company owned vehicles, and AGE equipment.
  • Detects and treats corrosion.
  • Enters required data on maintenance forms manual or automated.
  • Records vehicle condition during annual inspections.
  • Performs all phases of pump, drive train, engine, and general repairs.
  • Changes oil and lubricates units on a scheduled basis.
  • Inventories and maintains bench stock for vehicle maintenance shop.
  • Files work sheets for maintenance accomplished on all units with department manager.
  • Maintains hand and power tools IAW applicable directives.
  • Performs emergency maintenance as required outside normal duty hours.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated, is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruises from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts and sweepers in shop area.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, and taste or smell.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud or unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.
  • Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting/pushing/pulling minimum of 50 lbs.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Trade school certification or equivalent military experience
  • A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in powered AGE/vehicle maintenance is required.
  • The ability to speak, read and write English, and to comprehend technical data is required.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of vehicle and AGE equipment repairs, troubleshooting of systems, sub-systems and associated equipment, and applicable publications.
  • Knowledge of standard and automatic transmissions, power trains, and both 6- and 8-cylinder engines is required.
  • Experience in air-conditioning system repair and state vehicle inspection procedures is desired.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • The preferred candidate would have a valid work & residency permit to work in Germany, or be a national of the European Union / European Economic Area.
