Job Summary

The Assistant Maintenance Manager (Track) provides secondary level support to the Maintenance Manager for the U.S. Army Prepositioned Stocks 2 (APS 2) project maintenance activities. The Assistant Maintenance Manager (Track) works within the maintenance section and is assigned to assist the Maintenance Manager to support the Main Battle Tank, Infantry Fighting vehicles, Armored personnel carriers, Armored Combat support vehicles and self-propelled artillery. The Assistant Maintenance Manager (Track) directs the activities of a technical workforce engaged in the upgrade, test, repair, modification, fabrication and rebuilding of critical, complex, defense equipment within the European theater. Responsibilities for this position include organizational, system, and component level repair of fixed, mobile, and transportable armored and weapon equipment and systems. This position interfaces with the Project Manager, General Manager, contracting officials, and subordinate managers / technicians to discuss technical issues associated with the operation and repair of armored systems and equipment. The Assistant Maintenance Manager (Track) resolves problems using causative research and information systems that are both standard and unique to include the following the Army War Reserve Deployment System (AWRDS); Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A); Standard Army Maintenance System Enhanced (SAMS-E) and Logistic Information Warehouse (LIW) and integrated Logistics Analysis Program (ILAP). This position safeguards this information as it is sensitive and or classified in nature when compiled for readiness reporting purposes. This position establishes, controls and conforms to approved financial guidelines for maintenance operations. The Assistant Maintenance Manager (Track) helps to organize and staff the Maintenance Operations Department in such a manner as to effectively accomplish its mission.

The Assistant Maintenance Manager (Track) has these specific responsibilities:

  • Defines contract maintenance requirements for all Track vehicles, organizing resources, and managing the maintenance planning cycle to support the APS 2 and U.S. Army mission.
  • Manages the reports of the APS 2 equipment set to include analyzing data to extrapolate operational readiness data that is classified when consolidated of the Track fleet.
  • Uses classified (U.S. only) Information Technology (IT) systems, including Logistic Information Systems (LIS) and GCSS-A, to manage maintenance and logistics projects.
  • Ensures qualified personnel are assigned to accomplish the maintenance mission using appropriate equipment and tools.
  • Works closely with U.S. Army counterparts and Maintenance Manager to address any evolving requirements, surges, or issues that may affect the overall readiness performance of the Track fleet.
  • Ensures maintenance workforce optimally uses LIS systems to enter scheduled and unscheduled maintenance actions
  • Enforces strict adherence to technical data and management policies and procedures, applying expert knowledge of U.S. Army maintenance regulations, technical manuals, and other requirements
  • Advises Production Leads of conditions that may disrupt the orderly and controlled execution of the maintenance plan that have an adverse effect of any Pacing item to the Track Fleet or Operation Readiness.
  • Adjusts Amentum's manpower and material resources to meet daily production requirements, including surges
  • Assigns adequate supervisory coverage for each shift
  • Provides required information and reports in a timely manner for use in generating APS 2 contract deliverables
  • Resolves issues and recommends actions to pursue continuous improvement in service delivery
  • Ensures accurate daily documentation of maintenance actions in accordance with U.S. Army requirements
  • Works closely with quality control staff to analyze performance of personnel and equipment and recommend refinements in procedures, training, or supervision
  • Initiates management actions to meet new workloads or correct reported/perceived deficiencies
  • Coordinates closely with Maintenance Manager to share best practices and resources as necessary
  • Ensures compliance with safety directives, appropriate occupational safety and health standards, and applicable industrial safety publications (both OSHA and U.S. Army regulations)
  • Supports property accountability ensuring all personnel comply with Amentum's FAR-based property control plan

Minimum Requirements

REQUIRED BASELINE EDUCATION:

A bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience; OR An associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience; OR A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized experience; OR at least 10 years of maintenance level supervisory experience (military vehicles) and a comprehensive knowledge of applicable governing regulations, policies and procedures.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A comprehensive knowledge of the US Army Logistics Information Systems (LIS) in use to include AWARDS, GCSS-Army and USR
  • A comprehensive knowledge of all applicable U.S. Army Maintenance Regulations and Logistics Equipment Readiness Reporting requirements (AR 220-1, AR 700-138, AR750-1, DA PAM 750-8)


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • U.S. SECRET security clearance
  • Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Passport
  • Must be able to qualify for and operate Government provided light vehicles
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact well with the customer and with employees at all levels
  • Appropriate verbal and written communication skills to conduct meetings, execute plans, prepare reports, plans and working instructions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior military experience preferred.
