Job Summary

Amentum is looking for a Stationary Engineer Boiler Operator to join our team in McLean, VA. As a Stationary Engineer Boiler Operator you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of boilers, and work on scheduled rotational shifts. This position is also the Watch Chief's First Assistant. Must be a U.S. Citizen, and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with Polygraph.

Engineer - First Operator

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and maintain boilers, incinerators and associated equipment
  • Make periodic tours of assigned equipment and systems within headquarters compound, recording required data
  • Monitor water treatment program for Central Plant
  • Monitor and execute the Lock-out/Tag-out program
  • Report all faults, deficiencies, and unusual occurrences to the Watch Chief
  • Respond to emergency situations on assigned equipment, performing all tasks necessary for the protection of property and personnel
  • Assume all responsibilities and duties of Second Operator as required
  • Assume all responsibilities of HVAC Grade I as assigned by Chief Engineer on maintenance days
  • Direct Second Operator when authorized by Watch Chief
  • Perform other job related work as required
  • Monitor and operate assigned control systems

Minimum Requirements

  • Four (4) years experience in commercial/industrial operations.
  • Must possess Class I stationery engineer License, DC 3rd steam boiler engineer license or equivalent
  • Must possess universal EPA or CFC certification
  • High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Working knowledge of piping systems
  • Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions
  • Must work scheduled rotational shifts, including days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with Polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems
  • Ability to write correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Formalized training in stationery engineering or related crafts
