Computer Operator

Amentum is currently searching for a Computer Operator on Andros Island, Bahamas in support of the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC). Computer Operator is responsible for computer operations in support of AUTEC’s real time and post-test requirements. You will also be responsible for cross utilization as a Data Controller, which includes responsibility for all data support and the receiving, controlling, recordkeeping and shipment of classified data for the AUTEC Project. The Computer Operator reports directly to the Range Data Processing & Analysis Department Manager. This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities with all personnel during pretest systems checkouts, real-time operations and recorded test playback operations.

  • Reviews test documentation to determine real-time data support requirements.

  • Initiate and monitor real time servers in support of real time requirements.

  • Initiate and monitor real time sensor system software.

  • Ensure data distributions using provided software are configured according to test plans.

  • Manages electronic data files generated in real time.

  • Assist with monitoring performance of equipment including unsafe equipment conditions.

  • Monitor backup system including tape management and escalating issues requiring technical support.

  • Verify real-time software designed specifically for computer operations support.

  • Act as point of contact for issues in real time; log the issues; contact appropriate duty support personnel for resolution.

  • Maintain and monitor security of systems in the secure area of the computer room.

  • Ensure all data handling meets current security requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Sort, control, document, receive, and issue classified data received within Data Processing.

  • Ensure test package completion of all real time and post-test data items as required in the test plan, operations directive, or change request.

  • Proofread all receipts and review all date items prior to mailing or distributing to recipients.

  • Package and wrap all data items to be sent through U.S. postal system, express mail, shipboard rendezvous or courier and ensure packages meet security and handing regulations.

  • Partner with range users, NUWC personnel, program engineers, and other department personnel involved in test activities to ensure correct data issuance to the their specifications and needs.

  • Prepare rendezvous data in a timely manner to avoid test delays.

  • Extract, issue and post all bathythermograph data.

  • Safeguard classified data at all times from uncleared parties.

  • Comply with records maintenance requirements.

  • Perform general clerical tasks as required, including answering phones and door.

  • This position will cover weekend, 1st and 2nd shifts as scheduled.

  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree and/or equivalent vocational training or technical certificate in computer operations or related studies or relevant experience is required.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Self-starter for non-test related task assignments.

  • Functions well in a team oriented work environment.

  • Must apply judgment in determining the appropriate course of action for non-routine situation, based on knowledge and past practice.

  • Must be able to work extended hours that are test dependent, approximately 8-12 hours both day and night rotating shifts.

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.

  • A valid US Passport and Driver’s License is required.

  • This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required.
