Job Summary

Amentum E&E is seeking a Structural Supervising Discipline Engineer 3 to be based in Englewood, CO.

The Structural Supervising Discipline Engineer 3 is responsible for managing the discipline engineering to meet customer and project requirements for scope, schedule, and budget. Provides a liaison between discipline engineers and Project Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Chief Discipline Engineers, and Principal Engineers, with respect to project scope, budget, scheduling, and overall engineering and design requirements and employee administration.

Essential Responsibilities:

Coordinate the discipline's engineering with that of other disciplines.

Maintain records, files and other documents pertaining to the discipline.

Assume responsibility for ensuring that engineering documents comply with applicable state laws/regulations, including affixing registered engineer seal when required.

Assign preparers and checkers for discipline calculations, engineering studies, specifications, and design drawings and coordinates review of external documents.

Establishes schedules and budgets to meet project requirements and obtains approval.

Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

Advises the Project Engineering Manager regarding status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.

Works closely with Chief Discipline Engineers, Principal Engineers and Project Engineering Managers on employees’ evaluations and promotions and the overall technical improvement of the group.

Leads the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor the effect of these on the budget

Able to lead all aspects of estimating for a discipline.

Responsible for performance management and mentoring.

Provides assistance to projects to address technical issues related to process improvement.

Assists in training and mentoring/coaching other team members.

Assists in the development of training programs within area of technical expertise and conducts training sessions as appropriate.

Creates positive working relationships with peer leaders.

Creates productive relationships with organizations both within and external to Engineering.

Works toward achieving compatibility of customer’s and company’s objectives.

Ensures the quality, quantity, and completeness of discipline deliverables and engineering tasks.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE:$58.79-$94.36 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Minimum Requirements

Education:

· Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a Structures Emphasis (or equivalent education from a four year accredited college or university)

Experience:

· 8+ years of progressive professional experience in heavy industrial structural engineering.

· Professional Engineer License Required

Other Minimum Requirements:

· Advanced level of knowledge within the structural engineering discipline and a strong understanding of the other disciplines.

· In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards, including AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, and ACI 318

· In-depth knowledge and expertise in STAAD.Pro modeling, analysis, design, and post processing

· In-depth knowledge and expertise in MathCad, Excel, and Word

· U.S. Citizenship is required (dual citizenship is not allowed)

· Ability and willingness to obtain a security clearance

· Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Position may require travel.


Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science degree in structural engineering

Government or nuclear experience, i.e., DOD, DOE, NR

Working knowledge of AISC Seismic Design Provisions, i.e., AISC 341

Basic knowledge of nuclear facility design codes including ACI 349, AISC N690, ASCE 43, and DOE-STD-1020

Working knowledge of seismic response spectrum analysis

Basic knowledge of ANSYS analysis software

Fully understands the process of preparing and checking calculations, as well as, approval, revision, retention, and storage of project calculations

Fully understands drawing production and checking, as well as, approval, revision, retention, and storage of engineering drawings
