Job Summary

The Plant Engineering organization is responsible for the technical activities relating to operations and maintenance of plant equipment during Construction, Commissioning, and Operations of the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP).

The Network Specialist is responsible for ensuring delivery and high availability of all network equipment and services in Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Wireless (WLAN) and Converged Voice environments. The main task of a network engineer is to plan, design, optimize, implement, audit, and troubleshoot the network system to improve the efficiency of the organization. The successful candidate should have experience in Network Engineering, developing process & procedures, Tech Writing, Change/Configuration Mgmt., and Communications Mgmt. The ideal candidate should have a thorough knowledge and a multi-branched background that should include expertise from the fields of information technology, network and engineering, and information security.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • Provides technical support for manufacturing operations and support networked systems.
  • Provides network support for system issues.
  • Writes test plans, analyzes test data, and documents results with test reports.
  • Monitors Communications Network asset health and performance by utilizing network management tools and systems.
  • Research, write, and help implement procedure standards for the communication system network.
  • Monitors, detects, and communicates network threat vector activity.
  • Maintains and ensures backup of asset configurations.
  • Support day-to-day operation of network infrastructure and services.
  • Support a high availability network and ensure uptime consistent with the organizations business requirements.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and maintenance records.
  • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

Amentum has joined with Bechtel to create an LLC, known as the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.


Minimum Requirements

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or equivalent Information Technology field. 6 years of experience as a network analyst performing and or supporting network operations.

OR

Associates degree in Business or related field. 8 years of experience as a network analyst performing and or supporting network operations.

OR

High School Diploma and 10 years of experience as a network analyst.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
