We are hiring a Senior Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Engineer in support of NSWC Crane.

The selected candidate will support areas such as; FPGA Security Research; Hardware Security; Hardware Assurance; Digital Design; Verification and validation of FPGA tools; Bitstream Analysis; and Reverse-Engineering.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Creating innovative solutions to securing the full life-cycle of FPGAs and their design flow per customer requirements.
  • Applying hardware cybersecurity and assurance best practices to current and future FPGA applications.
  • Testing and validating the capabilities of FPGA security and assurance tools for use in DoD applications.
  • Support the development of functional testing for FPGAs, by testing and verifying recently developed functional testing tools.
  • Presenting research to prestigious academic and government conferences.
  • Providing expert insight into contractor or other program technical reviews for FPGA security and assurance tools.
  • Reverse-engineering of the cryptosystems and configuration files used in state-of-the-art FPGAs and their respective EDA tools.
  • Mentoring junior engineers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related scientific field and at least 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Strong understanding of FPGA EDA tools (Vivado, Quartus, Diamond, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the basic elements that make up the FPGA fabric space and how it all works together.
  • Understanding of hardware security and assurance best practices (PUFs, power analysis, watermarking, metering, authentication, encryption, etc.).
  • Experienced in digital logic and design.
  • Confident in using the Python and C programming languages, Tcl, and HDLs (Verilog, SystemVerilog, and VHDL).
  • Position will require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to travel, as required.
