Industrial HVAC Technician Lead

Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a high-level Industrial HVAC Technician for our Industrial maintenance team in Freeport, IL.

Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday; 7:30am to 4:00pm, but hours may vary based on business demand.

This position is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive and corrective maintenance on the facility mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment and systems in a manufacturing environment.

You will use your strong mechanical skills to diagnose and troubleshoot ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHU’s, split systems, compressors, refrigeration, etc. in a highly regulated environment. Work safely with 3-phase power up to and including 480V.

In addition to HVAC work this person will be the lead for the site. Interacting with management, customers, and subcontractors will be required. We are looking for someone who is even tempered, well spoken, and highly organized.

• High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
• Six years of experience as an HVAC maintenance technician in a industrial grade environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Solid understanding of large building HVAC systems and their mechanical/electrical controls.
• EPA Universal certification.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Must have at least 2 years in a team lead or supervisory role

• This position requires a valid Driver’s License.
• This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires the ability to regularly lift to 50 lbs.
• Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
• Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
• Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.

• Associate degree in HVAC, industrial mechanical, industrial electrical, or a related skilled trade.
• Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps.
• Knowledge of building automation system software supporting HVAC, water, steam, and power distribution (such as Honeywell and Siemens).
