You have a solid accounting knowledge base and the desire to expand it to more complex scenarios as part of a dynamic and challenging Finance organization. If this fits you, come help our Finance team run better every day - because here, better matters.This position supports general accounting functions and reports to an Accounting Supervisor or Sr. Accounting Manager. A majority of the responsibilities will be to assist the Sr. Manager or Supervisor with the monthly close process and ad hoc projects, under moderate supervisionSpecific responsibilities include:+ Prepares reconciliations of accounts, actively investigates reconciling items to resolve.+ Owns accurately and timely recording monthly accounting activity for assigned areas of responsibility.+ Performs moderately complex analytical assignments and prepares accounting related reports.+ Performs analysis and coordinates with partners to resolve any differences.+ Analyzes and interprets reports for managers, providing recommendations to guide business decisions.+ Undertakes accounting projects and provides guidance on accounting issues as needed.+ Fields issue escalations from internal customers or delivery partners and responds to inquiries as requested, ensuring issue and error resolution.+ Maintains records for accounting transactions.+ Demonstrates understanding of a broad variety of data sources and process flows impacting accounting transactions.+ Supports developing, implementing, and maintaining, procedures and policies for the accounting function.+ Compares system outputs with daily input verifying for accuracy and resolves.+ Takes a more leading role in guiding the companys compliance with the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley, GAAP, and Verizon Accounting Policies.+ Leads or participates, as required, in training and skills development initiatives as a subject matter expert.+ Participates in the identification and implementation of improvements to accounting processes in order to provide timely, accurate information and to ultimately safeguard enterprise assets.+ May act as a project manager for small to medium sized projects, leading a team of peers and subordinates in a matrix organization.You are growing and developing your accounting and analytical skill sets, as well as starting to expand into a more self-driven and/or leadership mindset. You have a solid grasp of the accounting concepts and practices you have been exposed to, and a working knowledge of other areas of accounting. You have a desire to develop your skills and grow your career, while helping to enhance a positive work environment.What were looking for...You'll need to have:+ Must be a current participant of Hiring our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 2-2021.+ Bachelors degree or four or more years of work experience.+ Four or more years of relevant work experience.+ Experience in the Accounting or a related field.+ Knowledge of FASB requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and accounting standard methodologies.+ Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel.Even better if you have:+ Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent.+ Experience in the preparation of general ledger postings and account reconciliations.+ Knowledge of accounting systems and applications such as SAP, PeopleSoft, CPM/Essbase, Hyperion Financial Management, Blackline or related systems and applications.+ CPA certification (or are in the process of getting certified).+ Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and root cause analysis.+ Demonstrated attention to detail and strong written and verbal communications skills.Equal Employment OpportunityWe're proud to be an equal opportunity employer - and celebrate our employees' differences, including race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, and Veteran status.
