Job Summary

This is a European Union or US National Local Hire Position in Germany. As such the employee will be subject to paying German taxes and be part of the German work force with all the benefits of Host Nation employment and social system. This position is not approved for relocation allowances.

Purpose: Manages activities and personnel engaged in the full range of heavy track equipment maintenance repairs. Leads a team of up to 15 team members; possible deployment may be required to other sites to perform inspections on equipment that is
either being issued out to or returned from using Units; overtime work hours may be required

Positions Reporting to this Function: Heavy Equipment Mechanics – Track and Senior Heavy Equipment Mechanics – Track

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.

  1. Performs organizational, intermediate level maintenance/modifications on military equipment such as: M1A2 tanks,
    M2A2/M3A3 Bradley fighting vehicles, M109 A6/7 Howitzers, M88A2, ABV assault vehicles; sub-systems,
    support equipment such as mine plows, rollers, and other related items.
  2. Works on the Light tracks M113 Family of vehicles.
  3. Diagnoses system malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct deficie
  4. Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using Technical Manuals (TM).
  5. Understand repair vs replacement of major end ite Lowest level or repair.
  6. Inspects, repairs, and replaces components, engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies.
  7. Identifies parts in repair manuals and places order request for needed parts.
  8. Performs annual service on equipment fle
  9. Performs road test on vehicles after repairs and services have been complete
  10. Mentors, and teaches subordinate mechanics to improve technical ability

  14. Maintains a daily timesheet and daily manning report and ensuring times are accurate.
  15. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the Amentum Safety Policies and Procedures.
  16. Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
  17. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions.
  18. Performs other duties are assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a heavy equipment mechanic is required.
  • 1-3 years’ leadership experience required.
  • Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements and/or educational achievements may be substituted for years of experience. Example: Two (2) years of experience is equivalent to (2) years of college and vice versa.

Specialized knowledge and skills:

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Additional requirements: Must be able to obtain or be in the possession of a valid European Driver’s License, Class B Driver’s License

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
