Painter, Automotive

The Automotive Painter removes paint and corrosion from various surfaces and applies primer and paint on government equipment in accordance with military specifications.

* Understands and applies various corrosion control methods and technologies.

* Removes paint and corrosion by the use of abrasive paper, liquid paint remover, scraper as well as abrasive media blasting techniques in an enclosed blast booth.

* Prepares items for painting by the use of tape and masking materials.

* Coats surfaces of government equipment with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices.

* Work is typically performed in an enclosed paint or blast booth with forced-air breathing apparatus requiring the use of a full-face respirator or standing in front of a glovebox blasting cabinet.

* The successful applicant will be required to be clean-shaven in order to allow for the proper fit and wearing of a full or half-face respirator.

* Applicant must be able to pass a respirator physical to be qualified to work inside of the enclosed paint and blast booths utilizing forced air.

* Performs others collateral duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

* Must be able to speak, read and understand English.

* Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.

* Daily tasks require standing, climbing, bending and stooping. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

* Must be able to obtain/gain access to a military installation with the use of a Defense Biometric Identification Card (DBIDS).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prefer 2 years' Corrosion Control experience or professional civilian painting experience.
