What you will do:

The Associate GQO Counsel will serve as a strategic legal partner and advisor to certain members of the Indirect Procurement and Information Technology (IT) teams. This role, reporting through the Director, GQO Counsel within the GQO Legal team, will work under minimal supervision with Stryker’s Indirect Procurement team members across the globe on a broad range of IT contracting matters, including professional service, SAAS, and license agreements with suppliers in which Stryker purchases IT products and services. This individual will partner with business and functional units on a broad range of IT matters, including legal and compliance issues consistent with laws, regulations, and Stryker policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Drafts and negotiates contracts, as well as proactively handles various transactional matters related to all areas of IT indirect procurement (including professional services agreements, SAAS agreements, license agreements, and statements of work); supervises formal contract handling procedures
• Acts as a legal business partner to Stryker’s Indirect Procurement team across the globe to execute Stryker’s indirect procurement IT strategy
• Delivers accurate information and research regarding laws and regulations
• Responsible for a large number of issues, prioritizing and delivering timely results
• Responsible for providing legal advice and making decisions related to legal matters that could have a large financial impact on the company, including areas involving compliance with laws, contracting, litigation, intellectual property, and supplier relationships, among others
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with colleagues, management, and outside counsel

What you need:

• Juris Doctorate required
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience, with 3 years of related experience required
• License to practice law in one of the US states required
• In-house counsel experience preferred
• Experience and/or understanding of indirect procurement strongly preferred
• Experience and/or understanding of digital products and services strongly preferred
• Physical work location preference of New Jersey or Michigan preferred

This job may be performed from anywhere in the United States, except that this job may not be filled or performed in Colorado.
