Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Cohn Baughman & Serlin is a captive insurance coverage law office of Century Indemnity Company, a subsidiary within the Chubb Group of Insurers. The firm recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Cohn Baughman & Serlin specializes in litigating complex insurance coverage matters for Chubb Companies that arise out of environmental, toxic tort and asbestos claims. The firm also provides legal advice and opinions for Chubb Companies on coverage issues. The Chicago, Illinois office has an immediate opening for an attorney with a minimum of 7 (seven) years of experience in insurance coverage litigation. The candidate should be knowledgeable in all aspects of coverage litigation including drafting pleadings and motions, written discovery, taking and defending depositions, and appearing in trial and appellate courts. The candidate also should be knowledgeable about general liability coverage, and coverage issues relating to environmental, toxic tort and asbestos claims. Excellent analytical, negotiation and written and oral advocacy skills are required, as well as an understanding of key insurance coverage concepts.

Education & Experience:

Candidate must have at least 7 (seven) years of experience in coverage litigation, preferably matters involving “longtail” claims such as environmental and asbestos. Candidate also must have graduated from an accredited law school, preferably in the top third of his or her class. Illinois Bar admission required
